Re: Roll Call 4/12/09 HAPPY EASTER!
What? That's it? No 191 to report? You are slacking!!!
Happy Easter everyone. My kids are up early and so am I. Yesterday was such a busy day that I forgot to take the ham out of the freezer. We were up late last night doing the Easter bunny thing. I guess I'll thaw it in the sink like a turkey.
I did smoke a turkey yesterday. For some reason it got done much quicker than it should have. I was planning on it taking 6 hours for a 12 pound turkey, and it was done in about 4. I didn't give the aromatics much time and it tasted like it. I guess it got done quickly because it was such a nice day yesterday. I got a little sunburned doing yardwork. I'll be making turkey chili and freezing it. The meat was pretty plain. I have about 7 pounds of turkey left over and I have a 10 pound ham. Looks like I don't have to cook any more this week. Have a great day everyone!

Re: Roll Call 4/12/09 HAPPY EASTER!
Well, actually TJ, if you must know....I never weigh as soon as I open my eyes!! I post on the roll call, take the dogs outside for their sweet release and then hit the bathroom for my own morning evacuations!Originally posted by tfek70 View PostWhat? That's it? No 191 to report? After that, I weigh in. And I'm so delighted to tell you I hit 191. I stepped on the scale 2 more times to make sure!!
I can't figure this out. I'm dropping pounds again like I did on the first go around with Atkins. I'm soooooooo happy about this!! I was dreading getting closer to goal knowing I'd probably slow to a crawl. I'm looking at all the things I'm doing differently for these results and I'm sticking with them!! So, no slacking for me TJ. Shoot, I probably wouldn't have even claimed it until tomorrow if you hadn't heckled me!!

Re: Roll Call 4/12/09 HAPPY EASTER!
Happy Easter, everyone!
I have 2 Easter dinners today but I'm not worried about getting through them because all I need is a slice of ham and a pickled egg or two.
I'm taking our 1 year old granddaughter to great-grandma's for one of the dinners and that will be fun because the baby is such a happy child and everyone loves when we take her along.
Have a happy day and stay away from the candy!

Ok, Everlosing, I need to read back through your posts and see what you are doing!!! Good for you!!!
Happy Easter everyone! It's so beautiful outside. Spring has sprung here in Northeast Georgia. I had a fantastic Spring Break. I got to see a lot of "old" friends that I hadn't seen in a while.
Back to the grindstone. We're having New York Strips for supper today. Last Saturday I got up early and did my grocery shopping. The Strips were marked down and marked down so they were 2/$3. I bought every one they had and came home and flung them in the freezer.
I also bought every pack of hamburger they had marked down so I'm going to cook hamburgers today for lunch next week.
Glad to be back!!!!

Re: Roll Call 4/12/09 HAPPY EASTER!
Hey Kelly! I just got old school. I bought some ketostix out of curiosity. I found I'd gone a bit carb crazy with OWL, the negative strips COULD have been a fluke (but they've always been reliable for me) and I ventured back into induction for just a few days. Then I stepped right back into OWL. I got back to fitday and plugged in all the food intake. I kept exercising even if it was walking and I started pouring the water down the hatch. I really just went back to basics and cut out the almonds I felt like I was having an affair with!! I am watching calories (everything that passes these lips) but I'm not hungry. For breakfast I had boneless, skinless chicken fried in olive oil and herbs and I topped it with finely grated mozzerella cheese and stuck in under the broiler until melted and browned. I also had one cup of broccoli with melted butter. It was good...and I am full! It'll hold me until dinner in several hours. I'm thinking ham and a salad for dinner. Some pumpkin fluff with a little flax for dessert.Originally posted by kellymch2006 View PostOk, Everlosing, I need to read back through your posts and see what you are doing!!! Good for you!!!

Re: Roll Call 4/12/09 HAPPY EASTER!
Oh, your breakfast sounds WONDERFUL!!!!!! Yeah, I need to get "old school" and quit trying to be so creative and all. Just eat some meat and some vegetables. Leave the cream cheese muffins alone.
And I know what you mean about almonds. Everytime I go off induction, I go straight to almonds. Then when I'm not losing, I always write my goals and number one is always NO NUTS!!!

Re: Roll Call 4/12/09 HAPPY EASTER!
Oh my goodness...congrats to all the fabulous losers today! That is so awesome!
OzLover...that is insane about the snow. Geeze...doesn't mother nature know it's April??? Remind me not to move to VT!
EverLosing...I think I'm having that affair with almonds, too. I had a small amount yesterday and the scale was up AGAIN today. I think I have to cut them out completely. If I get back to losing, I'll try introducing them again to see if it was a fluke. I've been in ketosis all along...but the scale is NOT cooperating.
No issues for me staying away from candy today since I don't have kids...the issue for me is the scale continuing to move in the wrong direction. I'm still partly blaming my TOM even though it is now 2 days late. However...2 days late for me actually means a cycle that is normalizing due to Atkins...my cycle is only 25 days long normally....but when on Atkins, it lengthens out...which is important when your trying to get PG (I learned a LOT about this stuff when I was trying). I'm on day 27 today. I'm convinced I got pregnant in July due to my brief time on Atkins. Anyone fighting fertility issues...I'm telling you, this can definitely help!
I made something new and pretty delicious today....I made Squash Browns out of spaghetti squash. Not bad at all. I need to learn how to cook them so as not to burn them, but I have this same problem with potatos, so it's me...not the recipe.
Squash Browns
3 cups spaghetti squash
1 small onion - finely chopped
1 egg - beaten
1/2 teaspoon salt
Dash of pepper
2 tablespoons butter
Vegetable oil
Prepare spaghetti squash as desired. Scoop out 3 cups of strands. Let cool.
Mix the beaten egg, chopped onion, and salt, pepper and add to the squash strands coating well.
Heat oil and butter in frying pan until bubbling.
Place 1/2 cup mixture into hot oil. Flatten into a patty with spatula.
Turn over when the edges are golden brown.
When both sides are golden brown, remove with a slotted spatula and blot on paper towels.
Serve hot with sour cream.

Started: 3/2/09
~280~270~260~250~240~230~220~210~200~190
Realistic Final Goal: 190Stretch Goal: 140
Successfully did Atkins in 1998 using 1992 copy of the book...before it was "hip". Lost 60lbs, exercised daily, felt and looked great. And then I moved in with a junk-food loving man, my mom got sick and passed away, then I suffered a spinal cord injury, and junk-food dude left me...and now I weigh 292lbs. That's 22lbs MORE than I weighed the first time around. It's 10 years later...I know this will work for me again.

Re: Roll Call 4/12/09 HAPPY EASTER!
The Squash Browns sound great!!! I bought a spaghetti squash for my friends I was visiting in NC. They'd never had one. I had no idea they were so expensive. I'd only bought one once before and that was with groceries so I didn't pay attention. I ran in Food Lion and all I bought was the spag squash. Yikes!!! It ain't that good!!!!
