  • Roll Call 4/28/09 Tuesday!

Good morning, everyone!! I welcome Tuesday with open arms! I felt horrible yesterday and I'm glad to say goodbye to Monday!

Woke up to see a huge swollen right ankle on Sunday. The swelling spread to my foot and leg so I wound up going to a doctor. I have tendonitis in my right ankle. So, my exercise has to be revamped. Hoping to concentrate more on muscle tone now. Most cardio is out for awhile.

Has anyone heard from TJ? He's never taken such a long hiatus! I guess we should keep flooding him with PM's until he makes his return!

Good morning all. What a crappy night. My puppy was up and down all night long. She's never been so restless. I woke up exhausted this morning! crap! Then I found a tick attached to my arm. Crap! Then I go downstairs and she had pooed in the floor. Crap!! No, really, CRAP!! (I'm making myself laugh here)

      No TJ on FB either.

        Good morning all!

Checking in early because I'm home today. My son is sick. Waiting for a call back from the doc. Hope it won't be too much longer. I hate waiting!

Sorry to hear about your ankle, Everlosing. Wishing you a speed recovery.

Kellymch, hopefully your puppy will sleep tonight and not through the day. What kind do you have? We have 2 Jack Russells.

Off to look around on the board to see what's going and wait for the doc.

        Have a great day all!

Morning all! No work for me today, but it's raining outside. Yucky.

Ev - I hope your ankle feels better!
Kelly - I cant believe you had a tick on your arm! I would've cried! How gross. I hate bugs.
qbu - I have a Jack Russell too, and a bullmastiff and a chihuahua! They are great dogs! I hope your son feels better. Sick kids are the worst.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful (rain free) Tuesday!

            Hello everybody,
Just checking in. Its been between 80-92 degrees for the last five days. I'm a fan of hot weather so I Love it. With this hot weather comes seasonal cravings of ice cream fudge sundaes, grapes and watermelon. Gotta confess I do miss them. Thank goodness for berries!

              HAPPY TUESDAY STAC'ers

The sun is up and they are saying near 80' temps today... OMG we haven't seen those since 2001

I have a lot of work to do. We have our last food show of the season Wednesday and almost everything we need is packed tightly into my van. Today I get to unload all of it and set up for the big wing ding. Tonight I will try to make a work out. I am hoping to save my back with a brace for set up.

I decided to make Lasanga last night. I used egg plant for the noodles. It came out pretty good. I wished I would have seasoned the egg plant with a little sea salt before grilling. I think that would have helped remove mositure. All in all it was good. I made hubby a regular noodle one. I think we will have lasanga for a week... Actually I am thinking of freezing some of it.

Kelly how old is your puppy? One of my dogs sleeps with me often and when he gets off the bed I know it means I have to take him outside. He does his business fast but it sucks if you have to get up in the middle of the night. Gotta love your pets though.

Ever I am sorry to hear about your ankle. I just went through 5 months of Petular Tendonitis on my knee (knocking on wood). It still gets sore but not nearly as bad as it was. Stay off of it is all my doctor said. yeah right. Did you ever try walking with out your knee (or foot/ankle). I hope you have some help around the house for the week.

Have a great day, eat legal and drink lots of water!

                Re: Roll Call 4/28/09 Tuesday!

Now I'm starting to worry about TJ...hope he's all right!

Ever, hope your ankle heals rapidly. Did they give you instructions for icing and anti-inflammatories? I have some tips from when I had bursitis if your interested.

Kelly...ewe and ewe! Do you know why the pup is restless? Did you check him for ticks, too? Ugh...ewe! Have you been camping recently? A friend of mine also had a tick on their back just the last couple days. Must be that time of year or something. I'm lucky enough to have a dog that has slept through the night ever since I brought him home as an 8 week old pup. The only time he didn't was last summer after the plums had fallen off the tree in my backyard. Nowhere near where the dog goes...I'm convinced I have evil squirls feeding them to him. He ended up with tummy troubles for a week during that time...had me up several times a night. Peyton is so funny...I can sleep through a thunderstorm and a parade...but if he sighs just one time to go potty, it wakes me from the dead.

BurnFat...about those cravings...someone posted about a low carb ice cream at Safeway made with splenda. I kinda wish they hadn't posted about it because now I'm thinking about getting some...but a 1/2 cup of vanilla with berries on top sounds like a nice treat now and then.

As for me....I went to Physical therapy yesterday and he worked me out pretty good. I got on the treadmill for him, and he had me concentrate on a different part of my gate than I have been at the gym. He is less concerned about my foot swing (which is what I tend to focus on) and more concerned that I swing my hips symmetrically...so that's my new focus. Actually, after 5 minutes of doing that, some of my hip pain STARTED to resolve. And then he killed me with other exercises and my hip hurt the rest of the day. LOL...but it was great work and I broke a sweat. He has this shuttle similar to a "total gym" but with resistance bands instead of angles that he has me "jump" on in a laying position...that is such a powerful exercise....totally gets my heart rate up and allows me to "jump", which I can't do in the real world standing upright. I wish I had one of these shuttles to do this more often because it works EVERYTHING from the oblique’s down...really great exercise. Today I have ACTUAL muscle soreness...which doesn't happen very often.

Oh...and Vickie...he said the spinning bike is a go! Now I've got to find a class to join to give it a shot. When I did it on my own, I actually had trouble getting OFF the bike cuz I couldn't get my feet out of the stirrups (amazing what you use your hamstrings for)...but in a class I will have no shame in asking for help. I've often joked that this spinal cord injury was brought upon me to teach me two lessons...one was patience (I'm still working on that one) and the other is learning to ask for help. I think I have that one nailed.

My weight was slightly up today...could be because of the muscle soreness...could be my usual Monday water gain from not having my feel elevated all day like the weekend. It's not bad...only 273.2. I'm not concerned.

I'm a little peeved at myself about what I've brought to work to eat today. I accidently grabbed a wrong container of un-opened cream cheese that will go bad in 10 days...and I have an open, barely used container in the fridge at home. GRRRRRRRRRR....I might have to find an alternative for my celery sticks because I don't want to be forced to eat both containers quickly. Dangit! LOL. Breakfast was a sausage egg quiche thing...lunch will be the end of that chicken enchillada stew-type whatever stuff...and dinner
...well...Dinner is with Russell tonight, and it will be interesting. I bought his FAVORITE frozen lasagna before starting this plan. I would typically "partake" in it with him...but now I can't. I'm making it tonight (mainly to get it out of my freezer)...and sincerely hoping he doesn't notice when I scrape all the stuff off the noodles. LMAO...this will be interesting. Russell hasn't seen me since starting...we'll see if he comments on the changes. If I had time, I'd make my own dish...but tonight is just gonna be crammed timeframe. We'll see what happens.
Have a great LC day, ya'll!

                Stretch Goal: 140

Successfully did Atkins in 1998 using 1992 copy of the book...before it was "hip". Lost 60lbs, exercised daily, felt and looked great. And then I moved in with a junk-food loving man, my mom got sick and passed away, then I suffered a spinal cord injury, and junk-food dude left me...and now I weigh 292lbs. That's 22lbs MORE than I weighed the first time around. It's 10 years later...I know this will work for me again.

                  Re: Roll Call 4/28/09 Tuesday!

                  Hello everyone!

First off - thanks Julie for sharing your mousse (whipping cream/SF Pudding) recipe. Wee problem... we're metric here in Canada so I don't exactly know how much a pint is. Is it the container that's about 4" high? Not the little shorty (like the milk we'd get way back in elementary school). BTW... sounds like you're having some nice weather up there! We have the sunshine, but the temps are low - maybe about 65-70.

Ever - it's great that you're not letting an injured ankle keep you from getting your important exercise. It's perfect how you've just changed the focus! Toning is key!

Kelly - I'm with Becki, check your pup for ticks, too! I've woken up to accidents before so can totally relate - I hate stepping in regurgitated fur balls in the middle of the night!

QBU - hope your son feels better soon! And take care of yourself so you don't get sick, too.

Becki - Great that you get to join a spinning class! And it's also great that your PT got you focused on a different part of your gait... with positive results (well... until you did the jump thing!). With good workouts like this in your future, you'll be melting away!!

Sounds like everyone is doing well today... me too!
My weigh-in today was perfect = 1 pound down and 6 away from my next mini-goal!

                  Back to work with me...

                    Re: Roll Call 4/28/09 Tuesday!

This is the most fun Roll Call I've read in a while. I'm wiped out and don't have the memory to respond to all but thanks so much to everyone for sharing. I always enjoy reading even if I don't reply.

About the ticks...I live on 32 acres in the middle of the woods and yes, it is tick season. Both dogs are covered. I have an appt at the vet tomorrow and they will get on their Advantage. I can't keep them out of the bed with me so if I wake up with a tick, oh, well.

Ladybug is a Walker/Rottie mix, so she is officially a MUTT. She's four months old and she rarely goes to the bathroom inside. Hank is a two year old Catahoula and absolutely the best dog in the entire world.

The dogs are outside right now. No doubt picking up millions of little ticks to bring in the house with them. YeeHaaa.

                          Hello everyone! Evening re-check in!

Dana, I've been exercising like crazy, pushing, pushing, pushing. I was so proud of myself when I hit 15,000 steps in a day. Well, my ankle wasn't happy, apparently. It can be a repetitive movement injury or a single accident. Mine must be from repetition because I absolutely can't think of one thing that's brought this on.

Kelly, sh*t happens...and I'm sorry it happened to YOU!! Sorry, somebody tell Tom we don't have a big steamy pile of poo smiley!! At least, I don't think there's one. Never know... I'm jealous of your probs though, don't you remember when the dogs dragged me down in the yard and through a pile of crap right before I had to leave for work?? In the only CLEAN pair of jeans I had?? I went to work and hoped it was mud. Nope. It was poo.

qbu, I just went through strep throat and 2 dental extractions with my son. FUN, FUN, and more FUN. Hang in there, they can't stay sick forever!!

mrs.davis, when I read your reaction about kelly finding a tick, I knew you were a yankee without having to look at your location. I grew up in the north and thought they were gross and nasty too until I moved to the south and realized they were part of daily life here!! I'll take the ticks as long as I don't have to deal with the snakes!!

BurnFat, stay away from all those nasty substances you mentioned. Nothing worse than a hot fat summer all covered up or not covered up and fat and everyone around wishing everything was covered!! LOL!!

Julie, thanks for the well wishes. I wish I had help around the house this week. Unfortunately, all I have is a 13 yr old boy. I've never really referred to him as "help."

rajenki, I feel like the doctor spent 3 minutes with me. The only redeeming thing about the URGENT "CARE" experience was I got good pain medicine. That will make for a clean house this week! He told me no ice, only heat treatments, elevation, 800 mg ibuprofen and pain medicine. Tell me what you know though....please!!

tangotori, I've decided I can't let the ankle keep me from exercise, because it's soooooooo tempting to do so!! I need to switch things up and get back hard on the weights anyway. We'll see what that does... Good news is May is close and I can join some new challenges.

Sandy, I'm glad you're back! Soooo glad you're going to see a good paycheck and be able to stock the kitchen again!! It feels good to have those foods onhand, doesn't it?

Oz, good to see you even if it was brief, LOL!!

AND, if TJ isn't back by tomorrow, we're going to have to offer a reward for his arrest and conviction...... I am now officially beyond worried about him!

Are you on Facebook? I have an entire picture album devoted to my snakeboots.LOL!

Although your ankle is going to have to heal up before you can fit on some snakeboots and come to Georgia and tromp around in the woods with me. LOL!
