    Good morning, all! Quickie check in, I'm running late and still have to cook breakfast! I'm NOT losing weight, there I said it. BUT I am hanging in! The alternative is feeling horrible and gaining weight. So, looking ahead and knowing the jeans I wore yesterday looked hot even if I'm not the consistent loser!

        So, a big whooshie is right around the corner for you Ev??? That's what I'm hoping!!!

        So, a year ago yesterday I smoked my last cigarette. For twenty years, they were my best friend. By my side in every situation good and bad. They made every bad day better and every good day a celebration.

        I used Chantix to quit and I think I started Chantix around April 15 and set a quit date of my birthday-May 19. The Chantix worked so well that on April 29, 2008, a full three weeks before my set quit date, I decided to put them down.

        I woke up absolutely terrified. Would I be able to do this? What about all the people who'd gone before me and lost that battle? What would I do in stressful situations? How would I be able to DRIVE without a smoke? And , Dear God, what about the weight gain???

        I have to say that this past year has not been easy. I decided that quitting smoking was my number one priority and if a little weight gain came with that, then I'd deal with it. It has been a fight. I have lost and gained six or seven pounds at least four times in the past 365 days.

        I didn't weigh this morning 'cause Monday is my Weigh Day but as of this past Monday, I'm about six pounds up from where I was one year ago today.

        Would I give that six pounds back? No way. I'll keep it and wear it with pride!!! (not really ) but I'll deal with it. Quitting smoking has been major. With the move to North Georgia, I was able to leave that bad habit in Florida and I feel so much better without it.

        I really had no idea the ways in which smoking interfered in my life and now I see it in my husband. A (heavy) smoker cannot enjoy a non smoking activity for always worrying about having that next smoke. My breathing is better, my taste is better, my endurance is better, I smell better, I "smell" better, I feel better, I sleep better and guess what? I gained a little weight.

        So my prayer for the upcoming year is that my metabolism steps back up and I'm able to conquer these six pounds and about four more. I pray that I will find something to reward myself with that doesn't involve food, smokes, or booze. Jeez, what's left????

        Anyway, thanks for listening. Proud to be smoke free for one year!!!

          I'm claiming Thursday as a great day also!!!! I fit into my size 16 pants last night!!

            Mornin folks

            I have a quiet day at work today – which is always nice to have J I plan on taking a walk at lunchtime and get my 30 mins in. Foods are good, I upped my veggies yesterday and will try to keep it a priority. I haven’t been holding to my word of tracking my foods on fitday.com – I really need to focus on that! I think it helps.

            Vickie will be happy to note I am up a little on the scale today 197.2 – We’ll see what tomorrow brings!

            Ev- I hate it when I stop losing for a few days – I get frustrated because I am impatient. I know my body is changing and it seems you noticed yours is too J Seems I lose inches, then a couple pounds, then inches then a couple pounds. I think a lot of us get hung up on the scale being the validation for our hard work.. not how we look or feel?

            Kel – Happy Smoke Free Anniversary! And thanks for starting things off with such a positive outlook today!

            Burn – Whoohoo on the size 16’s!

              I am doing good today. It has been one week and I am down almost 6 lbs. I feel good and more importantly I am happy with how well I have been doing. Have a good Thursday.

                  A little review from yesterdays Roll Call:

                  Dana...I love your take on the Russell thing...I'm going with that!

                  And Vicki...about the Burger Bar in Vegas...I found a "sample menu" online, 3rd item on the list was a low carb burger! More importantly...their shtick is a "build your own burger" where you can add any topping, such as lobster, prosciutto, avocado, etc ...and I even saw on one person's review that they had "zucchini fries". Hmmm...I'll check it out and let ya'll know

                  Kelly, that is awesome! You should wear that 6 pounds with pride...it could have been so much more had you not been diligent! You did something amazing, be very proud!

                  Kimworth...great week! Even better that you are recognizing your internal feelings in addition to your weight loss! This will help carry you through the inevitable "hard times" we all go through.

                  Today's dinner plans changed this morning...and I'm kinda happy. I was supposed to go out for dinner tonight...but really, I think I just want a burger at home. Breakfast was eggs and bacon, lunch will be leftover taco salad. Snacks are celery with cream cheese and a pinch of almonds. My weight this morning...271.6. I'm almost scared to write it in case it's not there tomorrow....but wow! I get on a plane to Vegas next thursday so will have to weigh a day early. I'm nervous about holding it together while traveling and partying, etc...but no matter what, I know this is the right place for me.

                  So I slept HORRIBLE last night. A friend was over visiting till late into the evening so I couldn't take my Ambien and trust that I would be up on time for work. So instead I took Requip (another drug useful for restless leg syndrome, but when I take it too often it causes memory loss) and just had an awful night sleep. It causes EXTREMELY vivid dreams...last night I dreamt I had a fever of 104 and was running around my office naked until I passed out from the fever and they had to call an ambulance. I don't believe I was actually deeply sleeping because I remember thinking that this fever could mean I have swine flu, so I spent the whole night partially stressed about being ill and not actually "resting" . It was a very strange sensation...like being trapped between reality and a dream world. LOL...I'm so happy to be awake and healthy today.

                  Potassium seems low today...bad ankle cramping yesterday and far worse today. Not sure why...dangit! I am so tired of increasing my potassium. There's got to be a limit of how much one should supplement that stuff! UGH...it's so ridiculous. I wish I could quit these stupid water pills. I recall that I was once on a "potassium sparing" water pill that they took me off of when I was trying to get pregnant...maybe I should go back to that. I'll call the cardiologist and see what he thinks.

And then I moved in with a junk-food loving man, my mom got sick and passed away, then I suffered a spinal cord injury, and junk-food dude left me...and now I weigh 292lbs. That's 22lbs MORE than I weighed the first time around. It's 10 years later...I know this will work for me again.

                      Better late than never. Another record breaking glorious day in Anchorage Alaska. Wow it is gorgeous When it is like this it is hard to sit down and work.

                      The reason for my abscence yesterday was that I was at my last food show of the season. Yeah! It is finally over. I am so tired today. I got up early and met my co-worker at our storage unit to unload and re-pack. Then I went for a 2 mile walk with my dog. Now I feel like I need a nap and it is only 11 am.

                      I am too tired to remark on all of you today, so I will wish you all a great day.

                      Kelly congrats on quitting smoking.

                        Just a quick check in... I have design class homework that I've been avoiding that I have to focus on. If I spend too much time here, I'm hooped!

                        I weighed in this morning at 195!! As you can imagine I'm very happy to see another lower number! Dana ~ no worries about your slight gain ~ it's probably the increase that comes before a whoosh! Really... we're still neck 'n neck here!

                            Hello...Just realized I didn't check in this morning.. OOPS.. I had to leave at 8 to go to an appointment to have orthotics made for my feet.. I am still not on track but hope to get to a grocery store in the next couple of days..

                            My kids are still sick.. My son looks terrible and my husband may take him to another doctor/hospital tomorrow... I am really worried about him.. My daughter has something different going on... Sometimes she feels bad and sometimes she is fine...
