  • 2nd Timer worried

I remember reading awhile back that there was this "golden" rule that Atkins does not work as good the 2nd time around.

So far, I started up on Monday at 240lbs and it's Friday and I'm 230lbs, so I'm not seeing this "Golden" Rule being true, but I'm still a bit concerned, and also I'd like to know for sure if I should expect it to be slower this time around.

Thanks to anyone that might have a response that is helpful,

    Sincerely,
    Iza

    Re: 2nd Timer worried

I didn't find that to be true for the initial 14 day induction loss but I certainly am a creepy crawler now much further down the road than I was last time. That said, I don't think I lost this much weight previously on Atkins. I didn't see anything in your post that indicates your age. I think age, medications taken, difference in activity level ALL have a cumulative major impact on how fast you'll lose weight with this WOE. Unfortunately, there is no hard and fast rule, everyone's body and experience is different. Sounds like you're off to a great start though!! Keep fighting!! You're doing great!

Everyone wants the weight to come off fast and stay off for that matter but try to remember your doing this for life so eventually as long as you stay on track it will come off. Just hang in there and your doing great!!

Not the case in my life, either. I lost 85 pounds in the first year, and the weight loss was really secondary to finally starting to feel good again, having energy, low mood swings and feeling stable emotionally. Weight loss was icing on the cake. I felt I came home when I gave up the white stuff....

          Re: 2nd Timer worried

Thanks guys for the responses. I can't remember where I read this golden rule thing, but it had me a bit worried. I'd have still done Atkins, since it works for me in general and low cal, fat, ect ect ect diets don't.
I take particular offense to being hungry. It makes me grumpy and on other diets I always ended up grumpy and very dissatisfied, which would push me to cheat and go off the diet all together.
In answer to the one comment from EverLosing. I'm 34, I quit smoking 8 months after 20 years, and I own a cleaning company, and work with my girls 5 days a week cleaning houses. I don't get a chance to work out much, and have lately really been unable to, since my tendinitis has flared up really badly and work is about all I can handle on it, but I am by far not in a desk jocky career . =) Someday maybe lol

          Thanks again,
          Iza

Iza, Girl, just take it one day at a time. Life style is a key point in all of this. Finding a way to sustain daily low carb living is the high road. Granted a hard one to get to, but so well worth it when you get there. Tons of grace to you! Quitting smoking is a HUGE FEAT!!!! Way to go! Woo Hooo

                Re: 2nd Timer worried

I've also heard that you have one golden shot but it only applied to induction, not Atkins as a WOL. I didn't lose as much on induction this time around but I also was not as heavy as the first time, and I was also 7 years older! Its what you make it, and I don't give it much thought.

And from the sounds of it, you are doing great! So keep it up!

To add to the headache and slugabug feeling of induction, I now officially have a nasty cold!! Evil I tell you.
In lighter news, I got a ticker!! Woot!
