    I have started induction (yet again) today. I am glad i came across this thread and looking for some motivation so i dont fall off the wagon this time. Lets really work on this together....my mini goal is to lose 20lbs with induction. Thanks.

      My mini goal is 5lbs. I'm starting small. Taking baby steps.

      My mini is to lose 10lbs. Done 2/22/10
      Lose 7lbs is my next goal. Done 4/07/10
      Lose 5lbs is my next goal. Done 4/17/10

        hi all!!! doing well so far. i was wondering if the use of true lemon is acceptable. it is the crystallized packets of lemon favoring. i like to have hot lemon tea in the afternoons, just hot water and lemon with splenda but was not sure if i could use the sub. the label says lactose citric acid lemon juice, lemon oil maltodextrin ascorbic acid . i guess i just answered my own question.
        no i can not use it.

          Good job you read the list of ingredients!

          I don't know what True Lemon is, but maybe you can use some fresh lemon juice instead?

            Georgiana is right - real honest to goodness lemon is your best bet. Dr. A even mentioned that you could put a slice of lemon in your water every once in a while (moderation with everything). It's good for you! So... if you need lemon in your tea, use the real deal.

              thanks all on the lemon advice. today i am doing well. 2 hb egg whites with bacon for breakfast. lunch was a salad with bay scallops. i have had 2 cups of decaf with splenda. lots of water.

              tonight will be kinda hard for me. my favorite show is on and i usually have a glass of wine while i watch. tonight i guess it will be seltzer with lemon and lime slices!

              how is everyone doing?

                I had a horrible day at work today. And on top of it I forgot to drop off our UPS deliveries since I was so frazzled. Needless to say I had gotten home, gotten changed into my workout clothes and was ready to go to the gym, but I got in the car, rushed to my job only to find that the packages were picked up. Grr. I so wanted to go buy a bottle of wine and have a glass or two, but I didn't! I went to Publix and got two cans of cat food for the kitties, and a head of cauliflower. I needed some comfort food big time.

                So I got home cleaned the litter boxes, washed my hands, and got down to business. I boiled the cauliflower, and popped in a piece of bacon in the oven. I then mashed the cauliflower with my magic bullet, and put in a tablespoon of sour cream, and a slice of cream cheese in for good measure. After that I seasoned it with salt and butter and had some "mashed" potatoes. Just what I needed. I did work out and pumped some iron to get the frustration out I was feeling today, but I feel a lot better than I did a few hours ago! I stayed on course!

                Sorry for the rant. But I had to get that out.

                  Started today! Forgot veggies from the grocery store, so feeling kinda ill now that the day is winding down. Did my 45 min walk from not exercising for the past 4 years, so proud of myself. Ignore the foot blister.

                  Been on Atkins previously, lost 100 lbs in 3 months (5 hrs of exercise a day, ah the benefits of being 16 years old back then).
                  What I do:
                  Elliptical gym machine 1 hr Tue-Sun
                  At 320, switch to cycling on my Trek 500
                  2 filtered containers water/day
                  Daily salads/veggies


                  Goals:

                  Stop needing High Blood Pressure meds - DONE!
                  Workout in a XXXL shirt
                  - DONE!
                  Workout in a XXL shirt
                  Workout in a XL shirt
                  270 on the scales

                      You don't like whole eggs? I know that I'd have to eat 5 eggwhites to feel full off of two whole eggs.

                        i only like the hard boiled yolks when i make deviled eggs. otherwise no. i have not made deviled eggs this week but i am going to next i have to get mayo.

                          Hi Guys!
                          I started my induction on the May 11. Have been following the Diet to the T. Keep checking my weight but haven't loss even a single pound. Nor the inches! Just 5 more days for the induction to get over. However i use the ketostix and they show a clear purple. Can anybody suggest why is this happening? HAs it happened to anyone? I am also walking quite a bit and drinking abbout 2l of water everyday. Now i am getting sceptical.
                          Any advice would be most welcome.

                          Start weight = 150
                          Target weight = 127
                          On my 9th day of atkins induction, i am still at 150
                          Moon 33, Female, 5'2"

                            You can post your menus in the "Review My Menu" forum and let others see if there's anything that can be improved there. Don't forget to include quantities for everything. It would also be useful to know your complete stats (age, height).

                            TOM, constipation, water retention due to exercise, etc. can affect weight loss too.

                              Good idea. I will post my menu though I have been taking them from the Atkins diet recipes and plan book.
                              I walk for 1.5 miles everyday and then having a toddler I have to be quite on the spin as you would imagine.
                              My height is 5' 2.5" and BMI of 27.6
                              I have had no constipation except for the forst 2 days
                              So i guess its all ok. Dont know is it the metabolism
                              BUt why are the ketostix turning purple?
                              Any advice please

                                Purple ketostix means your body is running on fat metabolism. In principle, this is awesome... but there are several things that could still interfere with your weight loss:
                                - the fat burned could be body fat (the one you want to burn) or dietary fat; if you overeat, the extra calories will lead to weight gain
                                - foods you have an intolerance to, like aspartame, sugar alcohols, Atkins products, etc.

                                So i guess its all ok. Dont know is it the metabolism
                                If your menu was okay (no Atkins products, no aspartame, enough fat, etc.), then you can determine your degree of metabolic resistance at the end of the 14 days. But I suspect there's something fishy in your menu... I'll take a look at it after you post it.
