  • Roll Call 5/21/09 Thursday!!

    Good morning, fellow STACer's!! Friday is lurking right around the corner!!

    I have a big weekend planned and won't be around here for a couple of days. I will go through withdrawl. We'll call it ADBB flu!!

    Doing great Atkins-wise. Food is all on plan and exercise a plenty!! I've had recent losses so I'm expecting the do everything perfectly and just maintain for a bit!! For anyone who has ever gained the weight back, I think we can safely say maintaining is the whole point and learning that while still in the losing phase, hopefully, helps us in the end!!

    Where, oh where, has my TJ gone?? Sheesh, I really miss him! Anyone have his email address??

    Good Morning! I'm off bright and early to do a million things today, but I just wanted to stop by and share some exciting news...Week 1 of induction is over and I'm down 4.5 lbs
    I'll try to check in at the beach.

        Morning all

        I watched a weight loss program the other day and the obesity expert mentioned Ev's point that if you are losing weight and stay the same for a week (or several weeks) then your aim is to maintain your weight loss and not gain before the weight loss kicks off again. So if you do stay the same - be pleased that you didn't gain instead of getting really upset about not losing

          Ok, I sent a private message to you Ev but our server is apparently having technical difficulties today!!! I have Tjs email at home so I'll send it to you this afternoon.

          So, I'm wearing a size 12 skirt that I bought at the end of season last year and stuck in the back of the closet! Woo hoo. Tempted to get on the scale. But I'd hate to ruin a good mood.

          I hope everyone has a wonderful Thursday. We have a faculty volleyball game this afternoon. It's going to be fun. I love volleyball and I told the sixth grade team that one of them was going to end up in the hospital before the game was over. Hehe.

            Good Morning everyone! Happy Thursday!

            I'm down 5lbs as of this morning! I cheated a few times in the past few days, I know that's why I haven't lost more but I had a cheat free day yesterday and am going to continue not cheating for the rest of induction. I'm hoping to be at 160 by Monday (fingers crossed)

              hey everyone i went to my local pharmacy and paid to weigh myself!!! :shock horror: lol and ive lost 0.5lbs which is good consider i normally weigh wearing nothing

              anyway started off in a good mood and then felt foul, not ill just emotional, i dont know why. maybe everything is just getting to me and just felt like crying in the middle of work cant understand it myself but feel slightly better now.

              hope everyone else is doing good! cant wait for tomorrow to be over.

                Friday is in my sights. Hang in there Focus. Enjoy your weekend Ev, it's cooler today here so the weekend should be grand. I have a feeling those 6th graders are going down, Kelly!

                  Happy * Almost* Friday STAC'ers

                  I have planned to play hooky Friday and I have Monday off. I am giddy with excitement.

                  We are having phenominal weather and it feels great. I think I will plant some flowers this weekend, work in the yard, maybe do the down stairs bathroom floor.

                  I have had 2 great nights of sleep and finally feel caught up on rest.

                  Eating well, like Ev I am maintaining my new weight. I almost have the urge to go back to induction for a month just to speed things up but I have to remind myself that slow and steady wins the race. It is about the journey and I really am trying to change my life habbits of eating poorly and exercising rarely.

                  Today I was out hiking at 7:30 am and it was invigorating. I am going again this afternoon/evening.

                  I mis TJ too! He is a kick in the pants and he needs to come back here already. Vacation is over TJ get your skinny butt back.

                    I'm around...doing best I can. Water pills still causing issues but today I took two of the old ones just to try to shed a little fluid...this morning I was at 275.something...blech.

                    I'm eating fine...ketosis is fine...I'm uncomfortable with all the excess fluid but it's not as bad as earlier in the week. I’m in less joint pain than before.

                    I worked out with my trainer last night and it was AWESOME. I thought I'd be sore as **** today but I'm not....not sure why, but can't wait for my next session. It was the kind of training I've always wanted but never got...kinda like a Jillian Michaels session where she pushes you to the edge, but she worked within my physical limitations. I wanted to cry at the end because I was so happy...I would never work MYSELF in the same way or as long as she did...it was perfect.

                    Speaking of physical limitations....yesterday was the 7th anniversary of the surgery that left me paralyzed. Not a great day for celebrating...but I've come a long way and am proud. The sad news is they say you only regain functionality in the first 7 years....I'm hoping to be the exception to that rule. LOL

                    Food the last few days has been fine...nothing extravagant. I did go to red robin and for the first time had a lettuce wrapped burger...DUDE...they are serious with the lettuce wrap! I was expecting a little romaine leaf wrapped around the thing...instead I swear it was ¼ head of iceberg....that was pretty good. I’d do it at home! Today it’s looking like salami for breakfast (I was in a huge hurry...busy busy work day!), turkey/bacon/cheddar and lettuce sandwiches for lunch and taco salad for dinner. I’m having a BBQ this weekend with friends, one of which I recently converted to this WOE....so we will be able to support each other. BBQ’s are easy for me since I hate potato and macaroni salad anyway.
                    *sigh*...wish I was melting...maybe after a day of the strong water pills I’ll see a loss....but it will only be temporary cuz I have to go back on the potassium sparing ones. We’ll see tomorrow.

                    Successfully did Atkins in 1998 using 1992 copy of the book...before it was "hip". Lost 60lbs, exercised daily, felt and looked great. And then I moved in with a junk-food loving man, my mom got sick and passed away, then I suffered a spinal cord injury, and junk-food dude left me...and now I weigh 292lbs. That's 22lbs MORE than I weighed the first time around. It's 10 years later...I know this will work for me again.

                      Rajenki, I went to lunch with my middle daughter to In and Out Burger- they have a lettuce wrap burger too. They call it a protein burger, yum.

                        Yum, I just miss In N Out! We do not have one here. Anyway, I am popping back into STAC. It has been awhile, but I have recommitted and am on day four of induction and it is going great. It is all about commitment and preparation! Good to see so many familiar faces.

                        rung 1 - more veggies
                        rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
                        rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
                        rung 4 - berries, melon
                        rung 5 - wine -
                        rung 6 - beans, hummus
                        rung 7 - other fruits
                        rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
                        rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
                        Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range
                        (on to pre-maintenance)

                          I got an email today from Ruby Tuesday which made me want to check out their nutrition info. They have a lot of low carb things on their menu. Mostly seafood dishes for around 1-2 carbs. Their broccoli and greenbeans are only 5g each. I'm thinking about going after induction as a low carb treat. )

                            Well I gotta tell ya...I tried their mashed cauliflower and was not impressed! It had a strange flavor to it. I make it way better myself...but at least they have the options on the menu!

                              Yea, I've had it and I wasn't impressed either. It's one of the higher carb sides at 9 carbs. I like my veggies to go a bit lower than that.
