  • Difference between last time and this time?

Hi all - I was curious if people noticed any differences in their reactions to food this time around vs. last time. I last did Atkins in 2002, had great success, but then had to back off when I got pregnant in 2005. I had my two kids back to back and nursed, so I went a full 3 years of eating somewhat low-carb, but not strictly.

In any event, I've noticed this time around that I'm far more sensitive to salt than I was last time. I paid no attention to salt the first time around, but this time if I don't moderate my intake, I have a couple extra pounds in water weight the next morning.

Has anyone else's body changed since the first time around?

Our bodies change...it's very possible you are more sensitive to salt this time around. I think I am, too...but I notice it for different reasons. Last time around I didn't have trouble with swelling in my legs...this time I do, so it's far more noticable for me.

    Started: 3/2/09

    ~280~270~260~250~240~230~220~210~200~190

    Realistic Final Goal: 190
    Stretch Goal: 140

Successfully did Atkins in 1998 using 1992 copy of the book...before it was "hip". Lost 60lbs, exercised daily, felt and looked great. And then I moved in with a junk-food loving man, my mom got sick and passed away, then I suffered a spinal cord injury, and junk-food dude left me...and now I weigh 292lbs. That's 22lbs MORE than I weighed the first time around. It's 10 years later...I know this will work for me again.

I was reviewing my journal from last time (2003), and I find that I am losing in the same pattern as before. I lose a few lbs. then plateau for a week, then lose a few more, then a plateau. It can be frustrating, but so far the losing is continuing. My waist is bigger at this weight, but my other measurements are the same for this weight. That must be age. I probably need to add some crunches to the workout. Salt doesn't seem to be an issue, but I have been using less for my husband's health. Eva
