  • the big 40

I weighed myself (hesitantly I might add) and I hit the 40# mark today. I think this is the most I have ever lost.

I am thinking the heavy hiking has added to it. I really want to get back to the gym, but I can't give up the incredible sun we are having this year in Anchorage (record temps and only 1 day of rain in over 5 weeks).

I can honestly say I am working the program going up the ladder and watching the reaction my body has to the various carbs as they come back in. Still- I am enjoying the control that I have over my eating, and I hope it carries over to other aspects of my life.

I am still having some back and knee pain. Sunday I hiked all day and could barley walk by the time I returned home. I had a small mental break down but I know I will continue to get stronger and eventually I will get through a day with out the pain and stiffness. I stopped taking the anti inflamation meds I believe they were starting to cause a serious ulcer. So as my body is adjusting to not having that med and build up to the needed level of the supplement SAMe I will have some added stiffness/pain. A small price to pay considering my stomach was constantly burning.

Ev- I am still tyring to catch up to you

    Julie

That is so great! Congratulations. The gym just can not compare to your hikes. You are so lucky to be able to just go outside and get your exercise. Yeah! Eva

                Way to go, Julie!

                Started: 3/2/09

                ~280~270~260~250~240~230~220~210~200~190

                Realistic Final Goal: 190
                Stretch Goal: 140

Successfully did Atkins in 1998 using 1992 copy of the book...before it was "hip". Lost 60lbs, exercised daily, felt and looked great. And then I moved in with a junk-food loving man, my mom got sick and passed away, then I suffered a spinal cord injury, and junk-food dude left me...and now I weigh 292lbs. That's 22lbs MORE than I weighed the first time around. It's 10 years later...I know this will work for me again.

                  YAY YOU!!!!!!!!!

Funny how much easier it is to resist any temptation when you see the results you've been working and longing for!!! I've had cravings all day for horrendous things. Lucky for me....there are no such temptations in this house! Too close to goal now to do anything BAD!!! You're too close too!

Keep bustin' yer butt!!! I promise you, you'll reach a certain point when you've lost so much weight, your body will feel good again. I had pain DAILY from the car accident and surgeries...my spine, my legs, radiating into my arms. Barely bothers me anymore. There IS so much hope for you!! Hope you're lifting some weights too! You'll see marvelous benefits from it and the results will feel awesome too!

I know you must be proud and you deserve to be!! Enjoy yourself and bask in your glory!! You have another post to make 10 lbs from now!

Keep chasing me!! That threat will make me run harder!!

                        Re: the big 40

Kelly I didn't give it up but have been not getting on daily. I am trying to weigh only every other week or so.

The sad fact is I still haven't gone clothes shopping. I keep wearing my baggies..... I am afraid to be disappointed if I try something on and it does not fit right. I dug out anything that I hadn't thrown out when I out grew my clothes and now these are looking silly. My daughter made me change before I left the house today.

I definately need to take my clothes to the taylor (at least some of them) and have them taken in. I should have PMS this weekend so I am not into shopping for at least another week.

I was suppose to get a new tattoo when I got under 199 now I am thinking of pushing it back to under 180. I think I am going to treat myself to a tanning package and start trying to get some color over the beluga white that is my current fashion

Julie I'm so excited for you! 40 pounds lost forever!!

Yes - get that tanning package (I think I'll do the same - I love having some colour warming up my face!) - and get that tatoo at what ever goal weight you set... 179 sounds perfect!!

And definitely go and pick up a new pair of pants (or 2 or 3). I did the same thing about a week ago and was so pleasantly surprised to see that I wore a size smaller then I thought I would... and even that size was too large in the waist!! I know... sounds like it didn't fit, but the pants fit well in the butt and legs... nothing a taylor can't fix!

                          Again... congrats girl!!
I've challenged Dana to a new race to 180... wanna join us??
