Ok....so here I am....back to my original weight after losing 40 pounds a couple years ago. I want nothing more than to lose that weight and more. Ever since I fell off the Atkins wagon I tried many different eating plans to try and fill my desire for the yummy foods I love and lose weight. Well I guess it has become painfully obvious that I just can't enjoy those food anymore..and to be completely honest it makes me a little sad...but I guess the real problem I am having to getting back to this WOL is that darn "Golden Shot". I have heard that it doesn't happen to everyone but I am worried that I am going struggle through this WOL and see no weight results. So I guess I am wondering how many people have had good results with their 2nd/3rd/4th ect....time around? Did you have to do anything different the 2nd/3rd/4th time that you didn't the 1st.....please any help would truly be appreciated I am praying for some glimmer of hope that this time around I will have the same results as my first time.

Re: scared!
This time around I have been exercising from the beginning - times per week. I have only lost 10 lbs in 2 months (which is very frustrating - every other time I have lost that right away!) but I have lost 25 inches - which I have never done. I am really happy with that.
The other thing that made a difference for me, is to make me a priority (which I haven't done since my daughter was born 3 and a half years ago) I need to work out regularly for this to work for me. We are into a good morning routine - sometimes she exercises with me, sometimes she doesn't - but at least I get it done. I tell myself that I am no good to her if I am fat and unhealthy and unable to be there for her.
Good luck - you did it before - you can do it again.F - 162/154/134

Re: scared!
This is my second time on Atkins. In just under two weeks, I have lost 12 lbs! I didn't think I would lose this quickly, but I have and am very happy about it! I think you can definitely do it. The key is cutting out most carbs from your diet-I think that is why most people are overweight. There are so many yummy foods you can eat on Atkins! That's why I love it.Starting Weight: 200

Re: scared!
I'm losing weight faster this time around because before I was hooked on the Atkins bars. I even tried to use those Atkins bars as a meal replacement. I lost 50 lbs then but it was slow and I would NOT do it again. The closer you get to living the Atkins standard, the better off you will be.sigpic

Re: scared!
1st try - Lost weight easily and rapidly... suffered carb withdrawal very bad the whole time... had constant cravings.... many cheats.... not very strict on menu.... bottomed out after about 30 lbs lost... gave up... gained all the weight back and some.
2nd try - lost fairly slowly.... hated the menu... didn't cheat too much, but wasn't very strict on menu either.... bottomed out after about 20 lbs lost.. gave up... gained all the weight back and some.
This time - Losing weight very moderately but very steady. Much more strict on diet... no sweets (not even fake sweets).... very little cravings... very little frustration... just hit 34 pounds lost and feeling great!
I think third time is the charm on this diet for me. Something changed inside me. I made a real decision this time to do something about my weight problem. I'm much more serious and much more ready to stick it out through the bumps and bruises.
Drawing inspiration from this message board is making a huge difference this time around as well.Name: Forrest

Re: scared!
Thanks everybody! I really appreciate your input! I've been spending this week getting mentally ready to get started! I am going to devote myself to a full, clean, two week induction...I am not going to look beyond that ( I don't want to overwhelm myself) After that I know I'll be feeling so much better about myself and can focus on another goal! Expect to see a lot of me on this board...I'll need the support!sigpic~Starr~

Re: scared!
I think the key to successful dieting is that the losing weight has to be part of a much bigger life change so that when you have knocked off the pounds you can also deal with the issues that caused you to become a fatso in the first place.
I lost about 80lbs back in 2002 on the Atkins diet but I lost weight more to prove to people that I could ( I took a bet for £100) as opposed to really wanting it to stay off and looking back on it now I know I had no intention of keeping it off. My business was doing well and I had an arrogance about me that was painful now I look back on it.
Now though its different. My whole life has changed in so many ways that this time I am losing the weight because I want to change my career direction and live a more contented life. The weight had become a symbol of what I perceived as my failure in life and although in many ways I am financially worse off I feel much stronger in terms of my will power because this time its not a race for me but rather something that I want to see gradual, but definite, progress with and that its going to lead to a whole new chapter in my life.

Re: scared!
This WOL works no doubt about it. The major problem is changing your mind set. Once you do you will be off and flying.
This is probably my 6-7th time and I am hoping that it sticks this time. Induction was easier this time I think I dropped like 16 # in 2 weeks which was more than any of the other times (but like many others I wasn't strict before).
Another thing that helps is being prepared for those days when you find your self too busy to eat/un prepared. Have an legal emergency meal or meal replacement.
My biggest advice is start using the recipes and finding your new favorites that your family can eat and enjoy as well. The food can be fantastic. Don't be afraid to move up the rungs. I have this time so I can get more variety and I do believe it has helped me. This is about the journey not about dropping weight supper fast (that is a bonus for some but not all). Be patient our body's did not get like this over night ya know. It takes a long time to change bad habbits (who ever said 6 weeks is full of shiza).
Welcome back!
