  • Feeling disheartened

This is my 2nd time around on Atkins and it is not going well.

I am going into week 6 and i have no energy, am tired all the time, and my weight loss has stalled.

I have relooked at my menu and i am not eating anything i shouldn't be. I am in ketosis, but the weight is not coming off.

I lost 9lbs on the 1st 2 weeks of induction and then 1.5 lbs the following 2 weeks. Nothing last week and this week it is looking unlikely that i am going to lose again.

    What is going on
    1st mini goal 184 - Met
    2nd mini goal 174
    3rd mini goal 164
    4th mini goal 154
    5th mini goal 144
    6th mini goal 134
    Ultimate goal 125!

Hey lou maybe you could post your menus for someone to have a look at? sometimes there are hidden evils that we dont notice but someone who has been doing atkins awhile can spot instantly (not me though im afraid)

Dont be disheartened, its not a quick process but its works. Theres proof all over this site.

Lou look at my weight loss pattern over 13 weeks... Especially weeks 2-6 I only lost 3 pounds!! BUT I was measuring my body.. and I was losing inches during that time.. Even though I was soo discouraged I just kept plucking along .. and finally it broke!

Hang in there.. I know we all expect to lose weigh weekly... or even daily! but sometimes our bodies have other plans for us

      Starting wt 212.0 '
      week 1 206.0
      week 2 201.0
      week 3 200.0

      week 5 200.0
      week 6 198.0
      week 7 196.6
      week 8 195.6

        Re: Feeling disheartened

When did the energy disappear? You posted in May about feeling very energetic, and having an easier time getting out of bed. Try to think about any changes in your eating or habits between now and then, you might find your culprit.

And what is your exercise regimen like? Exercise will make you LESS tired, not more! The endorphin boost alone is worth the investment of exercise. You just feel better! And my philosophy is..(gotta have one because the pounds are moving excruciatingly slowly now that I am nearer goal... we really have that in common!) that you can't stall as long as you are exercising. Even if the scale doesn't move, you are continually improving your body if you keep moving!

And in the meantime, focus on other beneftis like not being a slave to your cravings, etc. A good multi-vitamin or high potency B-complex vitamin might be in order. I have use sublingual B vitamin supplements to good effect when very tired, you can get them easily enough at any drugstore, it is a liquid that goes under the tongue. When you feel very fatigued, sometimes it helps to get vitamins in liquid form, Centrum has a liquid or other brands may also. It just feels like they get in your system faster. B vitamins are very important for energy, and cutting out grains and beans you might not be getting enough, so it is something to try.

Hope you get to feeling better!

You have to give your body time to adjust. Slow and steady wins the race. Stay on plan, step away from the scale. You are defeating yourself. We KNOW the plan works if you work it. Don't get discouraged, talk yourself up, what you know to be true. You stay on plan, it will work, just let it. It is going to take time. Maybe increase your exercise or switch it up. Move into OWL and add those more veggie carbs, your body might respond if you feed it more, not thinking you are starving it. Post induction stall syndrom is well documented on this site, read those stickies. My weight loss has not been over the top, but its steady and I may not see a weekly drop, but month to month, I am losing. Measure, sometimes it comes off in inches and not pounds. I'll take inches, over pounds any day. Remember you CAN do this. Do not be discouraged and do not compare yourself to others and their rate of loss, just listen to your own body and learn it.

Are you taking the supplements? Take a good look at that as well.
