  • Here we go again . . .

I've lost count of how many times I've started and re-started on this, but it really is the only thing that works. I just keep getting stupid because it's so hard to do Atkins while feeding a family of fussy eaters and unsupportive people who want creamy casseroles and baked goodies . . .

Ahem. Time for a little personal responsibility. If I fail, it's on me, not on the people I cook for. After all, I'm the one who taught them to eat the unhealthy way. Guess it's time to teach them to eat the right way.

I recently tried Weight Watchers again, too, and went to the message boards. Wow -- on my first visit there I was ridiculed, threatened, and criticized and then told to shut up because I was a "newbie". I don't care if those people could promise me monumental weight loss; I'd rather be fat and surrounded by nice people.

Apparently, you guys are stuck with me for a while.

Re: Here we go again . . .

Good Morning lady... I too have been around this merry go round a few times. I keep telling myself that this is the time for change...and then I get on the wrong horse or something.

I have two kids at home and a hubby that love the same foods yours do - it is very hard not to just give in.

I started cutting back these last two weeks. No take out was my first goal, how pethetic - but so far so good. I have brought my breakfast and lunch to work with me all week. I went for a walk last night too. (baby steps)

I have been making a plan to get all of my foods ready for the week. Pre cooking it sounds is the best plan. Since I know I do take out for convienence - pre cooking my own food is going to have to replace that.

I wish you all the best of luck on your journey and if you ever need a little nudge just let me know.

Creamy casseroles are okay on Atkins...

Baked goodies can be okay too...

good luck this time lady -- just remember you are doing this for your health ... and the crap you were eating before was keeping you from that goal. When you get weak ask yourself if that (insert sweet/starch/carb/etc) is worth it more than your health. I've been able to put things back asking that question...I want my health back and nothing is going to stop me.

Get back on plan, PREP, PREPARE, PLAN, -- make out a couple days menus in advance - that way you know what you're going to eat and there are no surprises. Make sure you have ALL the food for those days in the house ahead of time. Cook ahead extra of a couple meals and put them in the freezer for "those days" when you don't have time or don't feel like cooking. As long as you are prepared you won't fail!

Good luck!!! Check the recipe sites and find some yummie meals for the first few days.

Re: Here we go again . . .

Thanks for all the kind words and support. Ya know, coming back to this group is sort of like settling back into the arms of family. You guys just make me feel so welome!

Planning is everything, isn't it? I've been using the crockpot a lot because it's easier to drive past the drive-thru when I know supper is already done and waiting at home. For example, I've got a venison roast going in there right now for tonite, and it will also leave a lot of leftovers for quick snacks and lunches, etc.

Hard part right now is that it's just so stinking HOT up here in Michigan this week! My family has been having ice cream every night. And DH bought Heavenly Hash, which is just . . . aaaarg . . . why didn't he just buy Blue Moon? that wouldn't tempt me!

Re: Here we go again . . .

There are recipes for LC ice cream!

And I've personally never done this, but I BET there is a way to make shaved ice with some of those splenda sweetened Da Vinci syrups. And if not shaved ice, even just some popsicles somehow...I know there's some LC ways to have a cool treat. Try Linda's recipe site!

Great site for casseroles, too...and you can make the casserole, split off some for yourself, and add pasta in for the rest of the family if they insist. I'm making one of my favorites tonight...ground beef and broccoli in a white sauce.....I seriously cannot WAIT for dinner! MMMM!!!!

Which WW board did you go to? I used to be a lurker/moderate poster up on the 100+ board....and yes, they could be snarky!

                Stretch Goal: 140

Successfully did Atkins in 1998 using 1992 copy of the book...before it was "hip". Lost 60lbs, exercised daily, felt and looked great. And then I moved in with a junk-food loving man, my mom got sick and passed away, then I suffered a spinal cord injury, and junk-food dude left me...and now I weigh 292lbs. That's 22lbs MORE than I weighed the first time around. It's 10 years later...I know this will work for me again.
