Well, I started this WOE on June 1st. I can't say it has been easy, but in a month, I have lost 20 lbs!
I started at 200 lbs and am now 180 lbs. I am so pleased with myself for sticking with this. There are so many things that I've started to do and then given up on. I was worried that I'd do this "diet" for a few weeks and then bail out. I haven't and to me, it's not a "diet" any more, it is a complete lifestyle change. Growing up, my mom would tell me that I needed to lose weight. She always focused on a really low-fat, high carb diet. She thought that eggs and cheese were BAD, but that low-fat crackers, fruit and baked potatoes were HEALTHY! Ahhhh...no wonder I always struggled with weight as a teen.
I really feel that I have discovered a completely new way of life that WORKS for me! Although I have had opposition from friends and relatives (they say, "Atkins is so unhealthy!), I know that, for me, this is the most effective way for me to lose and maintain my weight. I'm going to be realistic here, though. That does not mean that I will NEVER eat another piece of Pizza Hut pizza again (my favorite!)...it will be awhile until I do, but when I do it will be a rare occassion and I will enjoy it to the fullest without feeling guilty like I did before!
I am training for a 5K in September.
I have barely run at all before and am starting to build up. I'm excited, and looking forward to acheiving all my goals!
