  • I fell off the wagon!

    Hi all

I went to a wedding yesterday, and ended up falling off the wagon, after 4 and a half weeks of cheat free atkins! I had to leave my house at around 10.30 am, to go to the brides house, there was a buffet style lunch prepared for everyone, none of it atkins friendly, so i just had a couple of sandwichs and glass of champagne. The reception dinner started at 6pm and it was a set menu. By this time i was sooo hungry, i have not felt that hungry since i re-started. I just ended up eating what was put down in front of me, and knocking back a few glasses of wine.

So today im going straight back on plan, i have my bottles of water in the fridge, ive just had a cooked breakfast and i have planned my lunch and dinner. Im going to do strict induction for the next 3-4 days and then carry on with my OWL rung 2, menu.

What does everybody do, on special occasions like this??

At least you have climbed straight back on the wagon. I find it very difficult to stay on track at weddings as there is a set menu but thankfully, I only go to one or two each year!

I usually try to find out in advance what the menu will be and if it has nothing 'legal' for me I make sure I have my emergency stash in the car so I can eat beforehand and not be hungry at the meal.

Sandwiches I cope with by eating the innards of them and leaving the bread. Also if there are any 'legal' garnishes on the platter like tomatoes or bits of lettuce etc I pinch them to eat

Well done for not deciding to 'blow it all' but getting back on plan as soon as possible
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

thanks for the tips, Thankfully there are no more weddings in the near future, but i will have to carefully plan a safe packed lunch/dinner next time a big occasion like this comes along.
I didnt want to ruin all my hard work, by blowing it all away, so ive been extra firm with myself and got straight back on and stuck to plan, im drinking extra water to help flush the nasties away.

Good for you. Being able to get right back on track after a slip-up is so important - we are all human after all, we will make mistakes. Best wishes,
