    Re: Beyond Frustrated!

How about posting your menu for today with specific quantities, and assuming it is similar to other days, the good folks here will be able to suggest things that may be causing the problem.

Assuming there is a problem that is. How are the clothes fitting? I'm not losing as much weight as the first time around for Induction, but I have dropped a couple inches around the waist which works just as good!

Finally, how do you feel? Truth be told, as much as I want to see the number in the scale drop, I have to admit that I have more energy and feel better than I did before starting. Technically speaking, even if I never lost a pound, as long as I wasn't going up I would be smart to stick around just for the better feeling.

Hopefully your menu post will shed some light on your issue, and you'll be back on track in no time. Good of you to post your concerns here instead of just giving up without knowing a reason! (BTW, you share a birth date with two of my three children!)

      2.5 weeks actually.
Make sure to weigh your self at the same time each time you do it.
Make sure your bladder is empty.
      Weigh once a week.
      Drink more water.
Eat as close to 20 carbs as you can. Try to get as much of the 20 carbs from veggies as you can.
Post a menu. Doesnt have to be 1 exact day, but list some of the types of things you eat.
Keep your head up. You are still 7 pounds less than you were before!

        Thanks Green Eggs and Ham,

        My menu doesn't vary much:

        Breakfest
3 scrammbled eggs with Either sausage or chorizo (mexican sausgae)
16 OZ decaf coffee with a splash (less then a teaspoon) of heavy whipping cream

        Snack 1
        Cheese Stick

        Lunch
Can of tuna, and a spinach salad with 4 pumps of balsamic vinaigrette (10 pumps equals one carb)

        Snack 2
        2- slices of turkey bacon

        Dinner
either 2 chicken breast or 8 oz steak

I drink on average 64-80 oz of water, take 2 fiber choice tablets and Centrum performance multivitamins

So that's a look at my dietary intake. As far as energy levels I would say yes they are better which is a positive, it's nowhere near what it was the first time around. My clothes did feel looser after the first week but since the initial weight drop they're beginning to feel snug again. I'm doing everything I did the first time around, expect eating a bit more, the first time around I had eggs whites only in the morning and 2 cans of tuna with a salad, and biked almost 20 miles a day. Now I'm eating more but still biking 15 miles a day.

        I'm just confused!

          Re: Beyond Frustrated!

On first glance I would think you are not getting enough calories (especially if you are biking 15 miles a day) and not enough fat.

Eggs and sausage look good for breakfast assuming the sausage doesn't have carbs from dextrose. Steak at dinner sounds good (actually, it sounds really good -- LOL) but if you are eating tuna and chicken all the time then you are likely getting plenty of protein without much fat. Excess protein converts to glucose so that could be a possible problem.

I would instead mix the tuna with some mayo and eat that on the bed of spinach without the balsamic dressing (I think I know which brand you are using and it caused problems for me despite the nutritional info), and then change the chicken breasts to chicken leg quarters with skin included to up the fat intake. Put another tablespoon of cream in the morning coffee and the combined changes should add fat and calories to offset the protein and exercise and put your body back in fat burning mode instead of "hang on to what I've got" mode.

Can you think of anything different about your first week where you lost weight vs. what you do now? I'm thinking you either cut calories, cut fat, or added more exercise all of which would cause a net decrease in caloric intake which *could* affect weight loss. Sometimes we have to play around with our menus even though they seem "legal". There might be something that just disagrees with you personally. Hang in there!

            Re: Beyond Frustrated!

And you might want to try adding more veggies spread out through the day. Can you add mushrooms or tomatoes or onions or peppers or something to your eggs in the morning? Or even a couple big scoops of salsa? And have some veggies with your meat for dinner? I've read a lot about trying to balance the veggies throughout the day to maintain consistent blood sugar levels.

And 7 pounds is great! Way to stick with it!

I agree. I am 6' 216 lbs 24 yo male and if that is all I was eating and biking 15 miles I know that I would be starved. Don't be afraid of fat. You're body needs the calories or it goes into starvation mode and won't let go any of your excess body fat.

Ok, well I'll up the fat a bit and see what happens? During the first week I actually had caffeinated coffee, thats the only change.

                    Re: Beyond Frustrated!

check your balsamic vinegar -- most brands have sugar in them, that could be part of your problem. Try something else on your salads for a few days and see if that helps.

I agree you need more vegetables and more fat --- how much water are you drinking? All you say is coffee...you need a minimum 64 ounces pure water daily.

After looking at the menu. Id say more veggies for sure. You got the spinach salad, but thats about it. Menu looks really good overall though.

I agree with everyone here...more fat, more veggies and I would toss the balsamic vinegar...it generally has sugar...also be sure your're drinking plenty of water!

Keep it up...just a few small areas of tweeking necessary thats all...you're doing great!
