  • slow loss -cheating- feeling sad

hi everybody..I am back after a 2 months pause.I started atkins for the first time on march, i had lost 4 kilos (out of ten that i wanted) and quite a few inches.i fell off the wagon in late june and for july and august i gained back the kilos and the inches.now i am starting again.i saw the sticker that the scale is slower and i was a bit relieved that somebody else had the same thing. however, i am feeling down due to other things in my life and i am not now that i completed one week, the first supposedly of the induction, i didnot have a clean induction....2-3 sweets,4-5 gelo gums, and tonight a slice of bread..oh and 20 gr. of chocolate...i dont drink also so much water so my resolutions for this week are
1)drink at least 1 lt of water daily
2)take my thyroid medicine which i also had given up
    3)stop surrender to my cravings..
i have to stay motivated but feeling so crap doesnt help...
thanks for listening i just needed to take it out of my chest.

Welcome back to Atkins and to the ADBB.

Have you read the book? The 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) is the book we follow here. It would be a helpful for you to have a copy of the book to refer to (
www.amazon.com or www.half.com have inexpensive copies). At the top of the induction page you’ll find a condensed version of the book - (Atkins Diet Induction FAQs)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/77558-atkins-diet-induction-faqs.html

Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and taking a multi-vitamin without iron (you should get enough iron with the foods you are eating on Atkins).

Check all around the board for everything there is to, there is a challenge section with both exercise and non exercise challenges, Rate My Menu for help with your food, journaling – something for everyone.

Make a copy of this list
(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html and take it with you when you go to the store. If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list don’t eat it. Learn to read the label on all foods you buy - don’t just look at the “carb” number look at the ingredients list of everything and check the ingredients against your list. Just because it says "low carb" doesn't mean you can eat it. Also check for hidden sugars (learn the names used in place of the word “sugar”).

The recipe sites are helpful for meal planning – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.

          Hi,

Really hope you can get back on track ok. The cleaner and more sparkling the induction the easier ride you'll have afterwards.

Make sure you find nice recipes ideas, excerise and be kind to yourself. Us thyroid folks are prone to sadness, I think, and comfort eating, but this WOL really, really helps.

But Nice, no wonder you aren't losing the same way you had before. Look at all the stuff you are having during your induction that you shouldn't. You can do it!!! Just cut out those sugars and breads completely and start chugging that water! Before you know if those pounds will melt away!

I'm the same way...I was on Atkins for a few months, lost lots and then assumed that I could cheat here and there and be fine. I even convinced myself that if I had a cheat day once a month it would force my metabolism to stay on its toes. Fine, except that cheat day became a cheat week, then a cheat month, and before I knew it my highest weight went from 232 to 242 and I knew it was time to come back to the ADBB fold!

Keep thinking clean. Clean induction, clean induction. Even if just those two weeks force yourself to not cheat! I am sure you've done crazy diets for at least that long! You can do this! Once the two weeks is over you won't want to cheat!

            You can totally do this!!!!

Re: slow loss -cheating- feeling sad

nice... i'm the first one looking for a way to fit anything extra into this eating plan that I can but chocolate and bread during induction? you have to get serious about it or not only is it not going to work its just going to backfire. the first couple days are soo hard - you feel sick, you crave things you're used to eating and you just feel like theres no way you're going to be able to do it but if you look over the menu of what your allowed to eat and stock your fridge and cupboards with stuff you really like and are able to eat it makes it much easier. You need to go shopping then completely restart induction, you'll do it, you did it before you can do it again. good luck!
