  • My Second Go

    Hello Everyone, my name is Amy. I have three precious children and a great husband. I am currently attending my last year of college to become a teacher. The past three years have been such a blur...from taking care of the kids, the hubby, the house, school, and homework. In that blur, I forgot about myself and put on weight. The sad thing is I tried Atkins back in 2006 and lost 37 lbs, but in that blur I gained it all back-- plus some.


    My first attempt on Atkins was great and cheat free for the first three months, but then the holidays came and I lost all control. It began with a baking party at a friend's house...one cookie...two..three..four...you get the picture. A couple months later I tried to get back on the wagon, but I was so busy and depressed that I didn't take time for myself. But now, busy or not, I am taking the time and consideration for myself to make a change. I know that I can do this. I want it too bad not to. So I began Atkins for the second time on Monday, October 5th.


    Everything had been going great the past four days up until this very moment...I feel a little tired and I am wanting things I should not and do not need. Atleast I am aware of it I guess and I am not going to do it because I'm thinking of the way I'd feel afterwards...but I just feel that if someone could talk sense to me anyways, I'd feel better. Support is always welcome and pleasant if you ask me.
    Starting weight: 215

    Mini Goal 1: 200 lbs-Met 10/19/09
    Mini Goal 2: 185 lbs.
    Mini Goal 3: 175 lbs.
    Goal: 160 lbs.

    Hi and welcome back to Atkins Amy --

    Regardless of what you did before, or what people are doing now, your body is different than anyone so it’s best not to compare - just follow the plan the way it's written. Look around and find what interests you and join in. Check the STAC Second Time Around Club - Atkins Diet for additional support.

    I hope you already have the 2002 DANDR book and have read it, it is the edition we follow on this site. If not it's worth a few dollars to purchase. Get enough pure water in daily (64oz is recommended), exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin.

    The recipe sites will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- check them out! Don't forget to eat enough vegetables (check the acceptable food list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html) - 2 cups from the first list and 1 cup from the 2nd list daily.

      go make your self something nummy - atkins friendly. Go for a walk, do a little exercise - do somthing to get your mind off 'whatever'. You can do it!

        I do have DANDR 2002 =) I'm going through it now to keep my mind busy til I get dinner done. I've also began looking at Linda's site for recipes and oh my goodness...I think I'm gonna compile some recipes in a folder so I keep a variety going!
