  • Finally back for good!

Alrighty, I am back to Induction and need lots of support! I have "done" Atkins more times than I can count, but only two of those times have been for more than a couple weeks. 6 years ago I lost about 25 pounds in just over 2 months. Then I was a summer camp counselor, which was a disaster! Then I actually did the program by the book from June-September 2008. I lost over 30 pounds in 3 months and was feeling fantastic. I don't know what happened. I have tried for over a year to figure it out.

Like so many people in STAC threads have mentioned, I never wanted to start completely over. I thought I could start again on rung 2, or still have coffee, etc. In the mean time, I have started Induction a handful of times, tried Weight Watchers, joined a gym, and still gained all the weight back.

Today I am 210 pounds, and my goal is to be at 140. The hardest part for me is to get started. After the first week I am fine, and I don't miss the food I can't have. Last time around I drank nothing but water and had no artificial sweeteners during those 2 weeks. I felt amazing!!

Hubby and I are waiting to start a family until we are both at healthy weights. For me, that means 155 lbs, which will put my BMI in the healthy range. We have looked forward to this for years (he is just finishing law school) that I really can't wait to get there.

So, here I go. I look forward to posting often, and offering as well as receiving support from all of you. Thanks for this great place for those of us who have been down this road before, and sometimes find it harder the second, or thirtieth time!

        Re: Finally back for good!

Good for you - I am back for about the 8th or 9th time...this last year has been one big roller coaster for me.

But I have a plan. Meal planning.

I am making turkey soup and chili for lunches this week, spinach quiche for breakfast and boiled eggs for a snack. I have chicken in the crock pot and it smells great.
I am feeling positive about it this time - I think I am feeling the way I did the first time - the one and only time I was very successful.

For me, the first time was definitely the easiest - but I have a really strong attitude about this now -I know I can do it!
        F - 162/154/134
restarted May 1 - for the very last time!

          Re: Finally back for good!

Thanks for all the encouragement everyone! I am looking forward to getting on the right path for life!

adreliluc- You could not be more right on. For me it feels like if anything is going to be enough motivation, the end goal being getting pregnant is definitely it! We vowed to wait to have kids until we had conquered our weight issues (of course it will be a lifelong thing, but at least being in control) so we hopefully won't pass them on to our kids.

neihu- Thats a huge key for me too, having good food ready to go when I am hungry and don't have the patience to make something. I am making a chicken and spinach dish tomorrow, and will eat that for a few meals at least. I also love having fresh vegis cut up and ready to eat, and buy salad that is ready to go. Just throw some cherry tomatoes, bacon bits and blue cheese and have a yummy side dish.

We went to the Outback Steakhouse the other night, and they have the most amazing new salad that I am going to try to make at home. It is an iceberg wedge salad (cut 1/4 of a head of lettuce) and top with cherry tomatoes, bacon, red onions, crumpled blue cheese and add blue cheese dressing with a little balsamic drizzled on top. OMG it was fantastic, and I am not a huge salad fan!

Looking forward to all your support and offering my own too
