  • Third times a charm!

I read DANDAR in '02 and followed it closely. Lost 50lbs and kept it off for almost three years by saying on the a carb path. Then a motorcycle accident landed me in the hospital with a lacerated liver & kidney and I totally fell of the program and over the following years I gained 80 lbs. There were a lot of other factors, but those are just excuses.

This time last year I started doing Atkins again, but I wasn't very strict. I needed to lose weight because I had to have knee surgery to clean things up last June. I managed to drop 25 lbs before the surgery, which was waayyy short of my goal, but it was better then nothing.

When awoke from surgery, things were worse than expected. Long story short is that I had been walking around on a fractured femur for a couple of years (I knew it hurt). Too add insult to my injury, I developed a blood clot in my leg. Two months on crutches, tons of meds and out of work for three months. Depression set in and the pounds came flying back on.

I let myself enjoy the holidays and on Jan 2, 2010 I came back to Dr Atkins program totally committed. No Caffeine. No alcohol. Just fats, proteins, lots of water and a few carbs in the form of green veggies. My goal is ten pounds a month (average) 'til June. Then I'll reassess and see how it goes from there.

Here I go again ~ wish me success!

Remember, the vegetables don't have to be just "green"!

There's lots of color on the Induction vegetable list.

    >>My goal is ten pounds a month (average) 'til June.>>

You know that having that "goal" might not be the best idea ... your body may have a different "goal" in mind.

No, they closed it years ago and bulldozed it and developed it a couple of years ago. Quite a shame, but what are ya gonna do?

Thanks everyone for the welcome back.

I'm down 7 lbs after the first week!

                    Re: Third times a charm!

Down a total of 14 Lbs.

Feeling good. My feet where starting to hurt, definately notice the change.

Moved my belt in two notches. I have so many clothes in the closet I'm looking forward to wearing again.

Still haven't been able to drink a gallon on water in a day yet, but I'm getting closer...

Thanks for everyone here. I try and stop by at least once a day.

Good luck folks, keep up the good work!

                        Re: Third times a charm!

Week three and I've stalled. Really???

I'm only weighing myself weekly. This morning I weighed EXACTLY the same as I did last week (doing Extended Induction). Dayum, it;s frustrating ~ but I'm staying on plan.

I know I need to eat more veggies and exercise more, but I haven't had anything not on the plan or even Atkins "legal" treats and have poured the H2O down my throat.

I guess it's just frustrating because I have passed up social events, so as not to be tempted.

I guess I should be happy because my glass is half full, since my I've tightened my belt two notches since the first of the year and I didn't gain any weight.

Oh look, my glass is half full. Better gulp it down and go fill it back up.

You will not to lose weight every day... or even every month. It's part of the game.

More veggies would be good. Did you try any new ones lately? Or some new recipes?

                            Re: Third times a charm!

I sauted some onion & bell peppers in equal parts butter and olive oil with chicken for dinner last night. Ate some brocolli too. But that was it for the day. Should I be spreading them thoughout the day, or does it matter?

I went to the store yesterday and loaded up on veggies. Califlower, cucumbers, tomatoes & avocado's (both fruits but somehow O.K.???), green beans, jalapeno's, lettuce, celery, parsley as well as a couple of cans of Libby's pumpkin (not the pie filling).
