Jackie, I am especially glad to see that you have smoke free for over 2 years after taking Chantix. I did the 12 weeks on it but was slowly tapering off during the last 2 weeks. Frankly, I am amazed that I have not cheated once since my quit date. Lots of good support from family, friends and my coworkers, all of whom would KILL me if I ever smoke again.

Here's the best part - I did Chantix because my DH wanted to quit. I fully intended on cheating and smoking in secret, like my father in law used to do around my mother in law. I had no intention of quitting smoking at the time.

However, I started changing my mind about a month in, and then decided to go ahead, commit, and finish the program. I cheated now and then, as I tried to work through my triggers (I had a lot of 'em) and learn new behaviors. I think I took a drag off a smoke once since August 2007, just to see what it was like - and it was nasty! Ugh, I just won't go back.

I kinda miss the vivid dreams I had while on Chantix... they were very entertaining.

Hi Pam! Hope you stayed warm down there in Texas. So proud of your smoke free status! Glad to see you hear & checking into roll call. You can do this! Remember planning ahead is key to success.

I was SOOO disappointed since I never had those. I did have quite a bit of trouble falling asleep but that was it. Oh yeah, and the weight gain

It would be hard to be a nonsmoker in Vegas--got to be the smoking capital of the world--we lived there from 1995-2001 and it seems like the whole place was smoky. I can remember smoking a whole pack in one evening many times while playing video poker. Great place to live though...

Hey woman--I just posted a note in your journal. I am holding you PERSONALLY responsible for this friggin freezing azz cold weather here

I am feeling really good even after just 5 days--tomorrow night is going to be hard--going to a COWBOYS playoff game shindig at a friend's house. Not worried about the food (taking a whole bunch of Atkins friendly stuff to share) but people are going to seriously give me the fish eye when I say that I don't want a beer.

            Hang in there girlie!!
