    Re: Roll Call 1/14/2010

Morning STACers! All this talk about spicy sauces is making my mouth water. I like really hot stuff, but having kids and a hubby who don't, I usually settle for mildly warm when preparing dishes. I don't think I like it as hot as Tfek though from what I'm reading, lol. Well, I'm here and on plan, down a couple more ounces today but still in the 208's, I want to get back to where I was and below. I'm quite certain I've blown any chance of seeing Onderland by my birthday due to my holiday cheats, but its time for me to donate blood again tomorrow and I seem to get a little metabolism boost after donating that lasts about 2 weeks. I have a theory that my body is working harder to replenish the blood cells that were removed and therefor revs up the furnace. Could be wishful thinking or just coincidence that I was due for a loss the last few times I've donated. Have a great day all!
    1st Goal ~ 199 Onderland -Met 3/29/10
    2nd Goal ~ 174 No longer obese
3rd Goal ~ 150 In the home stretch
Final Goal ~ 145 or below (I'll know when I get there) No longer overweight
    (Next pic at 187)

    Current Mini Goals:
    1) 35 pounds lost
    2) 40 pounds lost to move to Rung 5
    3) 45 pounds lost to update 15 pound loss picture series

      Re: Roll Call 1/14/2010

I'm back - did this two years ago and lost 40+ lbs. Was easier then because the women of dreams that I was dating said goodbye and I knew my health played a role.

Well, I'm back-still 20 lbs. less then when I started in 01/08, but more than where i want and should be. The best part is that "woman of my dreams" and I married this summer, and now she's willing to give the Atkins program a try too.

plsmachic and guekjian.. Right there with you except I weighed myself this morning to find a 4 pound gain. SERIOUSLY!?!?!? I'm getting very discouraged. I guess I'll just have to stay on induction for another 2 weeks.

If it's okay with you guys - i'd like to join the challenge of not weighing in until 01/26 as well!!! I'm an every-other-day-weigher and it can get depressing. I've never gone 2 weeks ever of not weighing myself - looking forward to it!

Cool Mimom and Katrina...We'll all check in with the good news (and I KNOW it will be good news) on the 26th then.
Mimom, that happens to me when I eat kalamata olives. I am +5 the next day and it takes a good 3 days for my weight (water) to stabilize! Still freaks us out though eh!

Yes!! I freaked this morning. All I can think of is hot sauce that I had on my wings last night. Not weighing in until the 26th. We can do this!!

                  Re: Roll Call 1/14/2010

I'm not trying to play "annoying Atkins Cop" like someone on this board, but I think you guys are nuts for not weighing in every day while having problems. The scale is an important diagnostic tool, and shouldn't be avoided especially if you are having issues. Burying your head in the sand and hoping the scale will say what you want it to in two weeks is a bad plan.

Laura, you had a couple of shots Saturday while on induction and you aren't losing. Go figure.

Mimom, you had an undefined "slip up" over the weekend of your first week of induction. I'm not even going to say that a "slip up" on Saturday or Sunday is responsible for a four pound gain on Thursday, but something is amiss. If you'd like to further diagnose what's going on, we are all here to help or you can PM me. If you think I'm being a jerk, that's OK too. Just trying to help.

I try to not play cop too much in the STAC forum because we are all veterans at this, but sometimes we get to comfortable and miss the basics.

                  Once again, I hope I didn't offend,

Haha TJ - you could never offend
You are right, of course that it can be quite a useful diagnostic tool. It can also be wonderful for encouragement. However - as in my case, frantically jumping out of bed in the morning to pee and strip naked to jump on the scale - that's not useful. Our weight is always fluctuation, so whereas i see my weight go up and down - it is always in a downward trend. Therefore - yes... it's useful. BUT; I doubt I can make it to Jan 26th. I doubt I can look at that scale everyday and walk away. I'd just as soon walk away from a shoe sale. But I'm gonna try - to see if I can. If I can do this - I have no excuses about anything ever again.

Katrina, I assure you I can offend. I've been in the military for 20 years and have turned many 18 year olds into professional Sailors.

I am the biggest scale fiend in the world. I weigh both before and after peeing. I can't pass my scale without weighing. I know my normal morining, after work, and going to bed weights. I just don't let it bother me. When I had my two day no loss period, I know it's because I at too many pickles both days, and too many wings when I wasn't hungry one of the days. It is easier for guys because that TOM guy doesn't mess with us. He's a jerk. The point is that I use the scale to validate what I'm doing. If I saw an unexpected fluctuation that I couldn't explain, I would run to the board and ask for advice.

                        TJ - you don't scare me, sailor-man.

I weigh myself (generally) once a week, at the same time of day, wearing the same thing (nuttin').

I find that doing it more often drives me bonkers. I know my weight can fluctuate due to a variety of factors, so sticking to once a week seems to be often enough but not so often I obsess.

I did spot-check when I was going through a little slowdown just because I was trying to diagnose an issue, but it resolved quickly.

I don't offend easily either! It's just that I am too emotionally attached to that stupid number I see and it dictates my mood for the day. Not only do we women have TOM to deal with, there is so much hidden sodium in places we would never expect, in totally legal foods, that although I could have been super good, I could be showing a gain. In my mind that equals failure, and that is enough to send me in a tailspin and ask "Is this worth it? I followed and am gaining instead of losing. I should have had that (fill in the blank) because this is not working anyways." SO, for me, the best way to wean myself is to publicly declare that I WILL NOT weigh myself for those 2 weeks, no matter how much the scale screams at me to get on, and I will stay on plan and WILL be happily surprised when I do hop back on!

You are going to miss your mini goal date if you don't weigh in until the 26th. Here's a dancing banana in anticipation. Whatever day you feel like you hit your mini goal, I'll give you the rest.

Maybe I'll hold on to them all until the 26th and we can celebrate 150 too.

Same here.. Not offended at all. Just disappointed that I gained 4 pounds I have been eating items with a lot of sodium and had 2 beers on Saturday. I'm guessing that is the cause. The 26th is what 2 weeks away.. It just helps me not weigh myself everyday. Thanks for being so involved and watching over us.. Mr. Atkins Cop Your definitely not a jerk.

I'll work on it. Can't let the junior folks at work think I'm getting soft in my old age. I can't wrap my head around how you guys can stand not weighing in all the time. If it works for you, Awesome. Keep up the good work.

I just figured out your screen name today. I was thinking that down here in Georgia, every grandma is a mimaw and every grandpa is a pepaw. I didn't think they spoke Southern up there. I grew up in Wisconsin and will live there after I retire. Now I understand the MI is for Michigan. Anyway, 90 minutes til Grey's comes on. See you at roll call.
