  • Can 8 days make a difference?

Of course it can!! I know this, and I know it can be the jump start to the next 8 months.... 8 years... the rest of living a very healthy life.

I've been very successful on Atkins before, but then struggled for several years (WAY too long ago) and now have really struggled with my weight since the birth of our youngest child 3 years ago. Postpartum depression has been my biggest challenge and I'm still having problems with it. I know eating well, exercise, supplements and getting outside all help with it, but I just haven't been able to keep with it. No more excuses. I can't afford to not do this... to the letter and by the book! Not even ONE bite of anything not on my menu.

So the 8 days thing? I have a booth at a trade show in 8 days. Sure, I meant to start 3 weeks ago, 2 weeks ago, etc. Even before Thanksgiving. Well, better late than never. 8 days can make a difference. If I take this seriously, get off my butt and WORK it.

So... day one officially starts tomorrow, but I've been working on getting my attitude straight today and have been eating well this afternoon and evening. Water - check. Supplements - check. Going for a quick walk up the hill behind our house right now. So, less time at the computer, use it for work and not distractions, and I'll briefly check in to share how it's going on this first week back. Wish me luck! Yes, I know I don't need luck if I'm working Atkins, but it's welcome anyway.

ps - my sig shows my weight at 193, but it's a little lower than that. I'll check with the scale and post my current weight in the morning (and then ignoring it again).

Yep, 8 days can make a big difference! Maybe not exactly in what the scale will show you, so ditch that sucker! In 8 days you will FEEL so much better, especially if you keep up with that "quick walk up the hill behind your house". and Maybe finding yourself finding the next hill too! You start with baby steps, and the rest will follow!!
    Good luck to you!!

Yes, the scale won't be in play except for noting the starting point tomorrow. It's the difference in how my clothes will fit, my confidence level and even the change in the way that I walk (funny how that changes!!) that I'm after. And will continue with. I can live with the fact that I will NEVER eat another cookie or slice of bread. Some people can; I cannot. I have a problem with wheat (even though I want it, it makes me feel like crap). I am a carb addict and I am now on the road to recovery. There is no changing or going back. There is no pasta in my future, and that makes me happy. I miss my Atkins way of life and am happy to be starting in the right direction again.
