Morning everyone. I am super sore this morning from yesterdays workout. I keep having these dreams about going out and eating whatever I want. I feel so guilty about it but the good thing is its just a dream. On track and looking forward to Wed for my first weigh in since week one. Have a great day everyone.

Re: Roll Call 1/16/2010
Good morning all!
I'm a loser again, and hit my first mini-goal today. It was much faster than I anticipated. Must be something to this moving up the rungs. 24 pounds in 20 days of absolute sticking to the plan. Well, I have a new story to tell.
I engaged in some mad science this morning. I'll call it a cheat, because I am big on accountability. I went for some sweet, sexy science today as an experiment. I think that's what the folks at Atkins.com are calling it. I will keep everyone informed of how it goes. Anyway, I ATE DREAMFIELDS PASTA this morning. You may have heard of it. 2 oz uncooked has 41 grams of carbohydrates and 5 grams of fiber. Supposedly due to their magic manufacturing ways, 31 of those non fiber carbs are non insulin impacting. I have read the accounts from some longtime members here and they seem to think there may be something to it, so I tried it. I know it's a rung 9 food, so that's why I'm calling it a cheat. I know it's not Atkins, so it's a cheat. I fully expect it to mess me up, but hope it doesn't. I also had pesto sauce with it which has pine nuts (rung 3 I think, but I know it causes some people problems). Here's exactly what I ate and how I'm feeling:
2 oz Dreamfields pasta (5 net carbs they say)
2 italian sausages (4 carbs)
1 T Pesto (0.6 carbs)
1 oz mozzarella (0.6 carbs)
1T olive oil
Immediately after eating this, I got the carb high that anyone who has cheated or fallen off the WOE knows all about. This is STAC, we've all been there. I think I'm pretty screwed here. It has to be due to massive insulin release. I will stay on plan today and not do anything out of the ordinary and we will see how this experiment turns out tomorrow. No matter what happens, this will only tell us how Dreamfields affects me. It's a YMMV thing. If I did damage control, ie lots of water and cardio, it wouldn't be a true experiment. I'll just ride this one out in the name of science. It's been over an hour and I don't seem to be having cravings, so I guess that's a good sign.

Re: Roll Call 1/16/2010
I'm here! I'm on plan! I have 6 new pairs of size 6 jeans in the washing machine so I'm HAPPY!!
Spending the day getting ready for the vacation road trip to spend time with Induction Boy. He's sick so it should be a real drag!! Can't wait....
I'm cooking like a mad woman today! Making almond flour bread, a cheesecake, a pumpkin pie, spaghetti squash, shrimp, alfredo sauce, chicken breasts baked in marinara sauce and herbs and topped with parmesan cheese....there will be nothing to eat this weekend!!
T.J!! T.J!! Good grief! I haven't even ventured near the direction of a substitute pasta. I'm interested to see the results of your "experiment!" Let us know. Stick to the spaghetti squash, my friend. It's delicious and it's really all you need!

I've had Dreamfield before and I like it, but the shock of all the undigestible carbs and fiber makes me pretty uncomfortable later on, iykwim.
Good morning!

Re: Roll Call 1/16/2010
Hey guys. Hmm I am wondering how that pasta will affect me later. I'm not the biggest pasta eater, and if I have it, it's a very small amount with more meat than noodles, but my husband loves pasta, so I won't try it until rung 9.
As for me, doing o.k. Went to Texas Road house and ate the filet with two cups of vegetables (Broccoli and carrots, hate carrots so picked that out). I think after this week regardless if I lose weight or not I'm going to OWL, that is considered a cheat because it wasn't two cups, one cup non salad veggies. So starting Monday I'm going up to rung one. I'm kind of scared because this is where I stopped Atkins. I want this time to be different!

Good call. I had never moved up the rungs before and I think that's a large part of past failures. My weight loss didn't skip a beat so far in rung 1 and I am enjoying it.Originally posted by brightstar7801 View PostSo starting Monday I'm going up to rung one. Nice I'm doing it! Husband is right along with (well at least when he's eating at home). Do you find it more difficult doing it while being Military? My husband is in the military and it seems like everybody eats out all the time here.

Just checking in....We went out for mexican Friday night with some friends. My wife and I split the chicken and beef fajitas. It tasted kind of sweet, so I didn't eat much, but I still feel like it messed me up. No loss yesterday. No big deal though.
I've got to take my 7-year old daughter to a birthday party today. I'll sit far away from the birthday cake!!

Re: Roll Call 1/16/2010
Being in the navy, it was very hard when we were at sea for extended periods. When we did our 6 month deployments it got darn near impossible. The ship only carries so much food, and when the supply runs down they serve either rice or pasta as a main part of every meal. My last ship was a frigate, the smallest of the small ships, so conditions were fairly rough. I usually made some beef jerky to take with me and am senior enough to get special meals cooked occasionally. Now I'm on shore duty close to retirement, so it's no problem at all. I brown bag it.Originally posted by brightstar7801 View PostDo you find it more difficult doing it while being Military? Re: Roll Call 1/16/2010
Today is the day...I have not cheated since New Year's day (blew it on supper) and tonight, we are going to a business associate's house for supper. He is doing a sushi night...with a selection of wines
. There are just 8 of us so it is going to look obvious if I don't drink any wine and if I pick all my fish off my rice...What a dilemna...I can't offend, but darn it, I have been so good about NOT cheating at all...Haven't touched a drop of alcohol although I WAS a "weekend drinker" with the occasional glass of wine at the end of the working day
. Any "politically correct" ways to get me through this? Or forgiveness for transgressing? (LOL- think the forgiveness will come from ME if it has to)...

Re: Roll Call 1/16/2010
I am far from strict in my atkins philosopy, but I would say that if you have been clean since New Year's day, you have had probably 80 meals and snacks since then. One meal where you go off plan won't kill you. Might set you back a day, but as long as it isn't the start of a long, slippery slope you will be just fine. You are still eating right 98.75% of the time. You've been doing this long enough that you won't fall off the horse. As long as you are ok with the possible temporary weight gain or stall, have at it and enjoy yourself."...Health and fitness are more than just personal goals - they're gifts we give to the people around us. Re: Roll Call 1/16/2010
I just woke up... REALLY late morning for me.
At work yesterday, one of my co-workers was showing off his p90x stomache... it made me SUPER jealous... I think I want p90x.
But,yeah, not weighing until Jan 26th. Ten days to go!
And, even then, I don't know if I will... I think I prefer not facing the numbers every morning. I prefer to check my ketosis and call it a day...
I work tonight, right now I'm eating hamburger alfredo casserole from Linda's site... SO GOOD....
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!!!
