  • 14 day induction results in 8 lb loss

    Hi All -

I have gone through 14 days of induction ... and my results are on the low to middle spectrum of metabolic resistance ... but headed in the right direction ! I lost 8 lbs over the 14 days.

For the umpteenth time I was hoping to lose as much weight as I did on my first Atkins attmept 20 years ago when I just MELTED but that is just not the case. While I must admit I am a bit psycholgically disapppointed that I didn't drop more weight because I have so much weight to lose I am determined to continue sticking with it and am adding some walking for exercise this week. In fact I started yesterday -- about a half mile day to start.

Ketosis has, as expected, decreased my appetite nicely. I do find that I continue to be an emotional eater ( all "legal" foods now thank goodness) but I have to leverage the appetite suppression to help deal with the emotional eating habits ... easier said than done ... but I feel I can do it ... night eating (my downfall) was almost completely eliminated the first week but has crept back during the second week ... I need to be aware of that and deal with it better going forward.

In addition to losing 8 lbs on induction my energy level has increased, I am not tired in the afternoons, I have overcome my caffeine addiction, I am taking vitamins and my waist has shrunk an inch or so !

I plan to continue on induction level for the near term. From experience I know that I have to be around 10-15 carbs/day to lose - my CCLL, at least without signficant exercise which is hard at my weight and physical size and also I am still get winded from the after efffects of a PE I recently suffered from.

Anyway, extended induction and light exercise to start is the advice I got from Dr Atkins himself when I went to the Center years ago ... he said that as long as I feel good, enjoy the foods, and am losing weight or inches that with so much weight to loose (and I weighed less than 383 lbs at that time !) I am perfectly fine sticking with induction way longer than 14 days ... as long as I am happy, feel good, and losing weight at a regular pace.

    Till next time ...

Hi Atkins=si, 8 pounds is great really. I lost 8 pounds the first time I started and like 4 pounds this time, but I'm older and more sedate and so I guess it's to be expected.

BUT, we are losing and that's what's important.

Remember scales are evil and the tape measure is our friend.

Thanks for the encouragement ... you are right ... we ARE losing and that is what is important ... I am addicted to the scale though ... it takes immense willpower not to stepn the darn thing every day ... sometimes more than once a day ... why do we do that ?!?!

Suckers for punishment. Amazed to see the weight go the opposite direction. I don't know.

            atkins-si,

Welcome back, congrats & thanks for sharing. Keep up the good work!

I feel ya about the exercising. Good job getting out and doing it.

As far as the scale is concerned, I don't have one at home. I use the one at the gym. It makes me want to go and see how I'm doing. And while I'm there...

              Well done, you're doing great...congratulations!!!!

Very wise decision to add exercise now....believe me, you won't be sorry you did! It has played a huge part in my success and I am a strong believer that exercise goes hand in hand with eating this way as well as consuming the right amount of water.

Keep it up, you're doing awesome and I look forward to hearing more updates from you on how things are progressing.

              Good to meet you!
