Hi All -
I have gone through 14 days of induction ... and my results are on the low to middle spectrum of metabolic resistance ... but headed in the right direction ! I lost 8 lbs over the 14 days.
For the umpteenth time I was hoping to lose as much weight as I did on my first Atkins attmept 20 years ago when I just MELTED but that is just not the case. While I must admit I am a bit psycholgically disapppointed that I didn't drop more weight because I have so much weight to lose I am determined to continue sticking with it and am adding some walking for exercise this week. In fact I started yesterday -- about a half mile day to start.
Ketosis has, as expected, decreased my appetite nicely. I do find that I continue to be an emotional eater ( all "legal" foods now thank goodness) but I have to leverage the appetite suppression to help deal with the emotional eating habits ... easier said than done ... but I feel I can do it ... night eating (my downfall) was almost completely eliminated the first week but has crept back during the second week ... I need to be aware of that and deal with it better going forward.
In addition to losing 8 lbs on induction my energy level has increased, I am not tired in the afternoons, I have overcome my caffeine addiction, I am taking vitamins and my waist has shrunk an inch or so !
I plan to continue on induction level for the near term. From experience I know that I have to be around 10-15 carbs/day to lose - my CCLL, at least without signficant exercise which is hard at my weight and physical size and also I am still get winded from the after efffects of a PE I recently suffered from.
Anyway, extended induction and light exercise to start is the advice I got from Dr Atkins himself when I went to the Center years ago ... he said that as long as I feel good, enjoy the foods, and am losing weight or inches that with so much weight to loose (and I weighed less than 383 lbs at that time !) I am perfectly fine sticking with induction way longer than 14 days ... as long as I am happy, feel good, and losing weight at a regular pace.
Till next time ...
