    Hi Everyone-
    Well I have been back on the atkins wagon for 3 weeks now. I did induction for 2 and have added more veggies in the last week. I am committed to sticking to it after i gained 12 pounds over the holidays. The problem is that I feel like it's not working how it did in the beginning. I lost 60 pounds in 6 months before and then the 6 months following I was on and off and struggling with my carb addictions.

    I lost 5 pounds during induction and then this week I GAINED 2! I dont get it??? I am doing noting different then when i first lost weight and actually probably making better choices then i did then. I am even getting up at the crack of dawn 3 times weekly to excersie......what gives? I am only weighing myself once a week to keep track of progress and that is a huge step for me considering my daily wieghing obsessions from before. I have heard rumors that women only get one chance at atkins is this true? What should I do?

    I eat lots of protein, vegetables, appropriate fats and drink tons of water. What could be my hold up?

    Weight loss isn't linear.

    Is it possible that "time of month" is causing the bound up?

    If you want to post exactly what you're eating, with quantities and net carbs, and how much water you're drinking, maybe we can spot something.

      I have heard rumors that women only get one chance at atkins is this true?
      I'm wondering why only women...

      Anyway, it's not true.

      The problem is that I feel like it's not working how it did in the beginning. I lost 60 pounds in 6 months before and then the 6 months following I was on and off and struggling with my carb addictions.
      Being on and off can slow down one's metabolism.

      And since you weigh less now than you did last time, it's natural if your weight loss is slower.

      Posting a menu would be good.

        Nope, I was issued standard female equipment. (whew)

        From a prior post, it was inquired whether you were reading/had read Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002, since the last menu you posted showed OWL 4 foods but you considered yourself to still be in Induction. So I'll re-inquire...have you gotten a copy of DANDR? It's really an invaluable resource.

          Just stick with it. No two people are the same, but it does seem that everyone fluctuates. I bet you'll be surprised how well you're doing next week at weigh in.

            I say stick to it also. My weight fluctuates, but seeing it on a graph shows that I'm still losing.

            Post a menu of the foods you are eating, and people will share with you what may be missing on your plan. Do you have the book by any chance?

                And have you measured yourself? Remember that alot of times you may loose inches as your body adjusts to the changes, but not weight. Don't forget to measure lots of different places, I've lost an inch in my neck, half inch on my forearms, and my shoes are looser.

                  Bruss, I bet it's water weight. Have you up'ed your sodium possibly. Don't fret, it will be gone in no time

                    Hello-
                    Well I found myself back on the scale this morning after tracking my food intake all week, being in ketosis all week, working out early AM 3 times this week, drinking tons of water and I lost .2 oz!!! Basically, the scale isnt moving. I understand all of the principles of being healthy and making a lifestyle choice and change, but please understand that I am overweight and part of me being healthy is losing weight. Also, I feel somewhat fragile at this point and feel close to running off and buying the HGC. I feel on the edge and so mad at myself for falling of the wagon and gaining 12 pounds. I have my full menu of food for the last week for your review.

                    Okay after typing up this menu, i see some places where i went wrong. After adding up the items i see days that were not so good. I am open to feedback but be gentle, I feel like I just dont get this diet anymore. When I look at this menu It reminds me that this is how I was eating when I was dropping weight every week......I feel as though me working out, cooking more at home and monitoring myself I still should be losing weight after the couple days that i had some extras.

                      Dr. Atkins did not include "extras" in his plan... and he did it for a reason.

                        I am even getting up at the crack of dawn 3 times weekly to excersie
                        Have you significantly increased the amount of your exercise? If so, it is possible your body is retaining water until it gets used to the new order of things.

                          At least you're not gaining weight.

                          With a little bit of modification, you'll be losing at lot more.

                            Why do I feel like I dont get it? I have read the book...lost 60 pounds already (plus 12 I gained). I am not still on induction by the way, been off induction 3 weeks. Not really sure what to do. I feel like I have changed my habits so much. I guess I need to see a menu from someone in OWL to see what the difference is???? How much sweetener can I have and how can I tell? If one soda says 0 carbs how much sweetner does it have?

                              It's about the same as Induction except for the addition of 5 net carbs of Induction vegetables.

                              The limit is always 3 servings per day. Less is generally better.

                              Depends on the size. There's one serving of sweetener in every 8 ounces.
