  • Help Please

Any suggestions for beating my two drugs of choice? Sugar and Soda. I did pretty well on Atkins for a while, but fell off the wagon. Now I'm back 7lbs heavier than I was. :-( I guess it could be worse, but still. Thank you for any suggestions.

    Re: Help Please

Give them up! 100%!! Make sure you do not replace them with low carb versions or knockoffs, but with healthy things. Ex. water instead of soda, veggies instead of sugar. Don't be tempted by shakes/bars/sugar replacements, snacks, etc. Look for food triggers, especially as you go through OWL, that trigger cravings and try and avoid them. Making sure you have enough water handy, and not being hungry because you are eating enough at each meal will help you deal with temptation.

Also, get the temptations out of the house or at least out of site if you share it with others. They probably don't need these things either!

I had a serious soda addiction (6-8+ cans a day) before Atkins and when I've fallen of the wagon, have gone back to it. But the longer I do this WOE, the less tempting all the bad things are and I really don't miss them.

Take it day by day of getting through without needing either. Eventually you will notice that you don't need either.

    Good luck!

      Re: Help Please

I agree with Bizzle. Lots and lots of water and low carb friendly food.
I had to prep my food for the week on Sunday so there was always something easy in my fridge.

Before Atkins I would go to the fridge and grab something easy and it was normally full of sugar. Now I grab something low carb to snack on. Deviled eggs, ham slice, veggies or even pickels. (becareful as they have a lot of sodium) After about three to four days the sugar cravings will start to disappear.
      Hope this helps.
