  • Hi there all veterans

This is my first day here and I was wondering if I should be here or in with the newbies. I am putting my original introduction of myself below.

I was on Atkins a while back and then totally got off. As I approached 200 lbs again I started thing I should start dieting or exercising. When I reached 241.5 lbs I actually started eating better.

I tried a little of this a little of that. I lost 2 lbs in 3 months. I told myself at least I was loosing. Then one day I got on the tread mill, went 10 min and could not move for 2 days after. I had gotten too heavy to exercise without hurting myself. I have other physical problems that limit my exercising ability.

The only diet I know that you can start loosing weight without exercising is Atkins. I was dreading the carbohydrate withdrawal. It was actually worse than I remembered it. Now I am through it and feeling human again. Last week I was healed enough to start exercising "carefully". I was looking for the carb count for avocados today and found you. Last time I had a partner and we kept each other motivated. Now I am alone. I WAS alone. I have all of you to share with.

I am at day 16. I had lost 5 lbs as of day 14, my first weighing. I learned last time to only weigh once a week at the same time on the same day. That is what works best for me. Wake up Monday morning, weigh, get dresses, go to work. It just starts the week off right, no matter what I weigh.
    We are in this together.

    Re: Hi there all veterans

    Welcome back !
It is such a wonderful WOE that all of us on STAC (Second time around club) wonders why we left the last time (other than a horrendous addiction to sugars and high carbs).

There really is no 'suppossed to be" place on this board. We do however have a daily check in on this thread (new posting every day) that may help keep you accountable. Just knowing that I promised myself I would check in regularly and say how I'm doing helps keep me on the straight and winding road You are more than welcome to join us there.

Congratulations on your success so far, Best wishes on your journey

      Welcome back.

I know all to well the perils of being overweight and trying to exercise (as do most of us here). Just take it slowly, like your weight loss. Build up to higher levels. Rome wasn't built in a day and all that stuff...

      Good luck

You're not a failure until you quit trying.

Restarted Dr Atkins Diet January 2 2010.
Next mini goal is to get under 300 lbs. Done! 3/8/10
Next mini goal is to make it three months without alcohol. Started 1/1/10 Done!
Next mini weight goal is 289. Done! 4/4/10
Next mini goal is 278 -50 Lbs
Eventually, I'd like to join the century club.
