  • Starting over

So, this is my second go at Atkins. I did Atkins in 2003 and lost 40lbs in about 4 months. I went back to my old ways. It took about a year, but the weight came creeping back up again.

I tried to get back on Atkins a few times. But after eating all those bad foods again, I couldn't get myself to get back on it. I would start up for a couple of days and then just go back to eating all the carbs.

When I got married in 2006, I went on LA weight loss. A very expensive way to loose weight. I lost about 20lbs. Then after the wedding, I started to get lazy and quit following their program.

Fast forward to now. I started Atkins a week and a half ago. I found myself at the largest I have ever been in my life. I was eating like crap. Lots of fast food, lots of Pizza Nights and way too much Mountain Dew!

For the last year and a half, I have been having huge issues with my back. I have always had back issues, but in May of 2008, I had a disc go out in my lower back, I have been going to a spinal decompression clinic ever since. The disc is back where it belongs, but it still has it's days where I have a decent amount of pain from it. I am sure this is due to my weight. I know, since I started up induction, my back has already improved.

So I finally decided, I can't live like this anymore. I feel that I had the best luck with Atkins in all the dieting I have done. I am motivated to lose it and keep it off. I also am planning to start p90x pretty soon here. But the first week of induction has really kicked my butt this time. I am experiencing induction flu, I never experienced it last time, and some major headaches. I really am not ready to start working out untill I get through that.

I have noticed that the weight is coming off a little slower. I have lost 7.5 lbs, but I guess I can't really say that i have been on induction a whole week and a half, because about 3 days in my co-worker I was giving a ride home from work to wanted McDonald's and I gave in to the temptation, like I always had in the past. Then I realized that it didn't even taste that good, and I was so mad at myself for doing it. I decided after that, I will follow this diet, because I am sick of being miserable!

I am pretty sure that the headaches are caused by the lack of soda. I drank soda all day long and all night long. I probably consumed a 12 pack a day. I know that's gross, but I am a soda junkie. So, I completely cut it out of my diet. I went to diet soda at first, but I felt it was really slowing me down. So now I am just drinking water all day long. I feel alot better(except for the headaches).

So that is my story. I am hoping to lose about 30-35 more lbs.

Great post Amy and great that your ditching the diet soda. You will feel so much better and in the mean time, you can take an asprin or something like that for the head. Drink lots of water to stay hydrated also.
