  • Okay what do I do know.

Thanks for stopping by everyone. I look forward to getting new messages and it helps keep me on track. I just found out that what ever substance they gave me at the hospital kicked me out of Ketosis as I was up 2 pds this morning. GOD! how discouraging. I tested the pee stick and I am not in ketosis anymore. I need to start from scratch. UGGGGG! I know hang in there. Does anyone have any ideas? I have started induction about 3X in the last 2 weeks. I think my body has lost its golden ticket...Do I carb myself up for a few days and start or what do I do. I think my body has stalled for good. I need some good advise. Thanks everyone.

You do NOT need to start from scratch.

Just continue on with where you were before the hospital.

    I doubt that.

    No.

    There's no such thing.

      Definitely do NOT "carb up"!

Do what J. wrote and just continue.

And for the future... you can gain 2 lbs overnight just because, so don't let that discourage you.

Two pounds could just be water weight. I wouldn't freak out just yet. Women, especially, seem to fluctuate a LOT.

        Hang in there!

To be perfectly honest I don't go by the sticks anyway.I follow the eating plan exactly as I should and I have no problem losing weight. Is it near that time of the month for you? That can cause weight gain. Also are you weighing yourself at the same time of day. I know my weight flucuates during the day.
Just stay on track and I'm sure your weight will change in no time.

I don't use the sticks either. I did buy them one time and they were interesting, but I'd rather spend my money on eggs. You don't have to carb up, just stick with induction, and follow Atkins correctly from now on.

Thanks for the advise ladies. Yes, I find the sticks work for me to let me know if I have had to much fat and if I am in Ketosis. This is my first time on Atkins but not LC. I am off to walk the dog this morning and although its Friday and I always say I am starting things on a Monday. I am going to go to the gym. Hope you all have a happy LC day.

They don't work for everybody though. Nor do they work the same way all the time.

You're putting too much stock in them.

How exactly do the sticks tell you that you had too much fat?

I like the sticks because I can tell right away if I got hold of something that wasn't as low carb as I thought. I usually only test sporadically, but if I'm feeling bloated or "off", then I can look and say, "Oh, I got something that threw me out of ketosis" and then figure out what it is so I don't have it again. This typically would happen if I went out to eat and got something with hidden carbs in it.

It's a tool, like anything else. I don't think it's worth obsessing over, but it can be useful.

Just because the color of the sticks doesn't change, it does not mean you are out of ketosis.

It does make a difference, for me. If I don't get at least a little purple, I'm not losing weight. So for me, it works.
