Hello, i started April 12th as well. I'm not sure what time this will be as I have started and stopped this diet countless times. I first began Atikins in 2001, and lost over 200 lbs by 2003. I went from 380 to 170 and kept that weight for 3 years . I have slowly put on weight since 2006, and half heartedly attempted low carb diets many times, usually the "Brad" diet, as I didnt follow Atkins the way it is supposed to. I am around 290 pounds again, and am starting to suffer some health issues (pinched nnerve in my back, pain in my legs, trouble sleeping, as well as not leaving my house often for fear of being in public). Its 2 days in, and I have am drinking the water, and doing strict induction. I have a picnched nerve in my lower back right now, so I am barely able to move without extreme pain, so excercise is out of the question as of yet. Glad to read your post, and keep me updated

I stared Monday the 12 too!!! Good luck to you both! And yes, I have done this a few times myself. I lost 30 lbs both times, still needing to lose another 70 or so. I have gained the 30 pounds back! It's OK though! This way of eating is the only things that really works for me as well.

      Talk to you soon!!!

Why we went "off" is our own reason. Why we came back is IT WORKS. We know this. We're absolutely positive. And that knowledge should give us strength and perseverance. And we should reinforce that committment by giving support and good advice to those who've never tried it or those who are struggling. Nobody knows better than STACers how easy it is to fall off the wagon, and how necessary it is to stay on it.

I restarted Monday as well. I went off and did things the Holly way since getting engaged last May...it really hasn't been working out for me too well, and at my wedding in November I was 10 pounds over my lowest weight!

I'm back to doing things by the book and journaling my carbs, and already I feel better (weigh in is Sunday). I know this is the way things have to be. Now that the wedding is over, I'm recommitted to checking the boards often and staying on Atkins.

Glad you all are here as well.

Experience tells me checking in with the boards regularly is great motivation. And you don't have to go somewhere else to some meeting and have to "make time" and all that. Got a few minutes to relax, check the boards. You never know when you'll read something that smacks you upside the head like a two by four! WHACK! "Okay, NOW I get it!!!" Or perhaps something you say will do the same for another. I believe in Atkins. And I believe in the board.

Re: For those starting today 04/12/2010

So, how are we all doing after our 14 day Induction? Anyone staying at Induction for a longer period of time? I toyed with it, but really want to move up to berries so I'm moving on.

I remember last time, I pretty much hung at Rung 4. And I lost 50 pounds in 6 months. My biggest weaknesses are potatoes, corn and bread, so I never made it to Rung 8 or 9 last time, mostly from fear, partially from wanting to revel in the success I continued to have.

And I'm not shooting for rungs 8 or 9 this time. I don't know when I'll consider moving beyond rung 4 but I was pretty happy and successful there for the longest time. Even maintenance will look more like OWL Rung 4 than maintenance. I'm not a drinker (Rung 5) rarely do beans unless it's a can in the chili (Rung 6), don't do a lot of fruits, although watermelon is a summer favorite (Rung 7) and Rungs 8 and 9 are down right dangerous for me and best avoided. I'm going to wait for a good long time before taking on those because they are the very foods that got me fat to start with...that and sugar. Thank goodness Induction breaks sugar addiction!!!!

Re: For those starting today 04/12/2010

I moved on too Bykerdruid. Loving being able to eat some higher carb meals like spaghetti squash and eggplant parmesan. I'm up to 25 net carbs and still seeing the scale dip lower! I still have a lot of weight to lose, so I may hang out at 25 and 30 carbs for a while doing rungs 1 and 2. Rung 3 can be a portion control problem, so I may only move up there when I have to travel for work. I'm excited about Rung 4 the most, especially as berries should be in season soon!

                I probably won't move beyond rung 4 or 5 until I'm closer to pre-maintenance.

Congrats on making it past induction!
