  • back again !!

I am back on plan yet again, I wish it was only the second time, but it is more like the 42 nd time. I lost count in the high thirties, some times were weeks some were days, but after some health news that could not be ignored, and being handed three meds, diabetes, thyroid and choleserol , I am taking this much more seriously and will not be leaving this way of eating again. Life is too precious and I do not want to spend any more time risking it, so eating the way I need to is not AN option anymore, but the ONLY option.
It is good to be back and I look forward to settling back in. I have been on the board a few days now and finally looking at all the forums I was in before.

    Re: back again !!

    Welcome Booklady/Stephie

......I saw that no one had yet answered your post.....I wanted to let you know that you are not alone...I can not count the number of times that I have restarted atkins ( i have run out of fingers and toes to count on) and then found some reason ( or life "happened") and i went off plan and gained everything I had lost and then some.

I am currently at my all time high weight and it is horrifying..I am scared to death because my health is declining. I had a cancer scare a couple of years ago and yet it didnt take me long to go back to eating all of the things that are destroying my health.I have chronic disabling pain from being overweight ( and from an injury sustained in 1997)...If I can just get off the 70 pounds of weight that I need to lose I know my life would change for the better.....less pain, feel better overall..and FINALLY feel pretty again...because at this weight I feel like a beast.

I am back here on the board and I want to be commited to this way of eating the way that I was when i FIRST started Atkins and lost 40 pounds in 4 months.....It was an amazing feeling that I long to revisit.....only this time I want to reach my goal.

Atkins is/was the ONLY thing that had /has worked for me in the last ten years. I guess what has kept me away is denial and my addiction to the foods that are indeed killing me. So welcome back. I am back too after a long period of denial about my need to remain on atkins for the rest of my life..... Wish me luck! The best of luck to you as well!

        Re: back again !!

Thanks for the kind words !! I know I have no choice but to eat this way. I want to regain full health and stop the health problems that are threatening. Despite my abusing it, my body has fought hard for me to stay healthy, I know it will repsond pretty quickly to the right food.
It is very good to be back and this time is for good. I have no choice if I want to be healthy and live a long life !!

          Hi Stephi,

Sending many good wishes your way! How are you doing emotionally, physically, nutrition-wise and/or with adding exercise in? What tomorrow brings is fully up to you. I hope you're doing well! If you haven't read the book lately, consider giving it another read for that extra support.

                Hi Stephie,
When I read your thoughts, you reminded me of me. I can understand and relate. You have a pretty big "WHY".
It appears, like so many things in life, that your "WHY" has to be large enough or important enough to be successful. "WHY" do I need to do this or that? Being successful will carry us through the frustrating stalls, the temptations that come out of the clear blue (such as when the co-workers bring in the sweets), and when the uninformed but well intentioned family and friends that are "concerned" about "that diet". Our "WHY" can be a powerful self motivating force. If our "WHY" is large enough, nothing can stop us.
Your "WHY" will carry you through. I believe that. Keep up the good work.

                Trenton
