Yes, I am new here. And, yes, I'm posting like crazy. But, hey, I'm excited! This is just what I've been looking for (and I want to brag).
I started on this diet (way of eating, whatever) in Apriil of '03. I was tipping the scales at a whopping 420 pounds (we're talking eight bags of cement and four bags of sugar, people). I knew when my size 60 pants started getting too tight to wear anymore that something had to be done. Several people at work were doing Atkins, so I started talking to a couple of them. I liked what I heard, and bought the book. And I haven't looked back.
My wife started with me, but only lasted three days. But, after I started losing the pounds, she joined back up (she was afraid I'd weigh less than her, I think
). She has lost just over 50 pounds herself.
As you can see on my signature, I'm at 332 pounds right now (last weighed Thanksgiving morning). That is still six bags of cement and six and a half bags of sugar, but it's still getting smaller.
I am losing the weight for several reasons. I have a wife that I love dearly, and want to grow old with. I have a beautiful daughter that I want to see graduate from high school and college. I want to see my grandchildren and be able to play with them (but am in no hurry...LOL). But most of all, I am losing the weight so that I can stand up and not be ashamed of the way I look, so that I can fit in the seat at the movie theater, so I can ride a roller coaster without having to use a seatbelt extention, so I can sit in a chair and not worry whether it will hold me up. I am losing the weight so that I can hold my head up and walk proudly down the street without children snickering. I am losing the weight for these and many other reasons, but it all boils down to this:
I am tired of being fat, and I am motivated enough to do something about it!
Thank God that He has given me the power and drive to see it through!
In Christ,
Trotter
