Would some guru please review this progress?

    I am

    Male 54 years 6 ft 3 in

Started 7 weeks ago at 260 lb
    Present weight 239 lb
So in British terms a stone and a half in 7 weeks.

Fitday returns average loss 2.62 lb/week

After the dramtic first weeek loss the rate has been absolutely steady at 1.5 lb/week

Didn't take exhaustive measurements before start, but 44 in waist trousers now hang on me, the 42s are a comfy fit and I can get into some of my 40s. Shirt necks are a lot more comfortable!

I obeyed the induction rules absolutely.
Ketone sticks positive from day two or three.

Fat intake around 60%, protein 40% carbo 3% and never more than 20g/day

    Calories have rarely exceeded 1500/day

Fairly inactive job, so initially I started walking more.
Now swim every lunch time I can - 20 mins breastroke - will go for 30.
Will now try to add in some cycling and machine work in a gymn.

After two weeks I slowly introduced:

    Aspartamine sweetened citrus flavoured water
Caffein free diet cola (very slowly)
I have just found Safeway's (UK Supermarket) range of Aspartamine sweetened carbonated drinks - the Eldefower and Lemon has zero carbs and is now my favourite.

I drink a lot of water as well.

Not being a cheese eater I introduced a few walnuts, pecans and hazelnuts (but ate Macadamia nuts almost from the start.)

Being a fruit lover I started on stawberries - some days these would account for be more than half my 20 g carbs. Supermarkets selling on the "Buy one get one free" basis"

My breakfasts are almost invariable - thre rashers of bacon and two eggs scambled.

The two other meals I will have about 1pm and about 6pm

Meat, poultry, salmon or tuna with salad or veg (and strawberries without cream)

Often I feel like a snack later in the evening - 125 g of mackerel, nuts or a Bratwurst if I am more hungry than usual.

    Questions:

1.5 lb/week seems to be the rate for me. I can live with this and am quite enjoying the diet. Twice that rate would be nice, or even a bit faster, so any suggestions would be welcome.

I established this rate before starting Aspartamine - may I conclude it is not affecting my loss rate?

Should I ease back on strawberries? I dont think they are causing any cravings.

Tried a ready to go vege stir fry yesterday - liked that - are beansprouts and a little soy sauce OK? havent found figure for beansprouts yet, but the packaing seem to give the the go ahead.

Thinking about the £28 Philips Ice Cream maker - any views?
Nice home made ice cream would keep me away from strawberries.

I tought I was a chocoholic but I miss apples and oranges more!

Contructive criticism and suggestions very welcome.

well 1.5lbs/week rate is really quite fast, and maybe you should take it and run!!! (I would!!!) but do be aware of a fe things..

    1. water water water, if you think you have drank enough, drink another glass

    2. many people find things can "suddenly" stall them out, so enjoy your diet drinks but if you do start to totally stall that would be the first thing I get rid of.

    3. you are only supposed to be eating 1 serving of strawberries a day. that said, as long as they are not causing cravings and you are staying in your alloted carb range, enjoy them while they are in season.

    4. since you have already lost a good deal of weight, do re check your BMR and AMR, you may need to reduce some calories. I say this because at 6ft 3, and 239 lbs, I am guessing you must be nearing your goal, and the closer you get to goal the more careful you need to be with calories...

200lb is top of the healthy range for someone of 6 ft 3 in

I have set my target in fitday to 203 lb (14 1/4 stone)

Now we will see how acheivable that is at my age.

That is the best adult weight I acheived at age 27, and mid range of the table would be 175 lb - I could never achieve that. I am heavyweight boxer/rudby football material!

I may have to settle for 210 (15 stone)

      Lests see how it goes

        Congrats!

        You are doing brilliantly! :joy

After a difficult weekend, food was the last thing on my mind and I never did my shopping, clearing cupboards of carbs etc. but reading this...I dont think it would really be sooo hard to just jump in and BEGIN! :joy

You're doing great. I don't think you need to lose any faster.

I have the Cuisinart ice cream machine. I love it.

You have introduced a few things that could be troublesome, but since you are continuing to lose I wouldn't worry.
