I had a c-section in aug 2003 ( my 2nd c- section had first done in 198
and I was told that since the incision is up and down that I would never have a flat stomach because of the muscle being cut, I sure hope this isnt true I would hate to go thru life looking like I carry a watermelon.

I have had two c-sections myself but they were across my stomach and I have been told my different individuals that my stomach muscles were cut and I would have a hard time making my stomach flat. I know that when I was at my post birth smallest of 121 lbs. I wore a size 10 just because of that bulge I had from the c-sections. I would be interested to hear anyone's thoughts on this as well.Staci

My wife had 2 c-sections, each was the bikini cut version. She got really big with both and has genetics that make her skin not very elastic. She worked and worked to try and flatten her stomach which never really made any difference. The hanging skin was really an embarassment for her and bothered her. Our kids are 19 and 22 now and after years of considering it she had a tummy tuck done this spring.
She is like a new women emotionally and yes she does have a flat stomach that rivals my memories of her back in high school. Her plastic surgeon explained that through the pregnancy ligaments often get torn and that means regaining a flat stomach for some is just not possible with out those ligament being repaired which is part of the procedure.
Considering what this has done for HER my only regret is that she didn't do it sooner. She is much happier with her body now and is motivated to work out to maintain her new shape. Yes I like it too.

i saw a show on tv discussing the subject. women with c sections going vertically up the stomach have a harder time because it cuts the muscle and you cant rebuild them with excercise alone.
the horizontal c sections are more common nowadays and cut the muscle parallel to the way it goes across the stomach. this allows for the muscle to rebuild more and exercises will get more results.
either way, doing crunches, etc will help...i just dont know how much of an overall difference it will be able to make

I had a c-section in 1990. Mine was a horizontal cut. I have been down to a size 4 before (since the c-section) and always had the hangy stomach thing and that was with doing lots of crunches. I used to do crunches twice a day and had a hard stomach but the lower part always had the hangy skin on it. I've kind of gotten used to it.
Others who have a larger stomach than I do think I have a flat stomach and to them I probably do but all I have to say to that..........they havent seen me naked. :yikes
If you find a way to get rid of the c-section flab....please do tell. Before and Current Photos

C-section
I've had two C-sections and was a bit discouraged about the hanging belly. I am working on it but I think I have to accept some might just be there until i get it snipped, lifted or moved LOL. I have decided not to let it bother me and just be happy with the smaller size clothes and not the exact shape of what is fitting underneath. Thanks though it was great to hear other people talk about thier battle scars, gave me some perspective.

I don't know if this is necessarily true or not, but a magazine I read once told me drinking soda of any kind - diet or regular - will keep tummy fat on. I have had two c-sections myself, but I haven't been able to give up diet Coke. I think a tummy tuck is in my future...when I get the 10 grand!Start: August 5, 2004

Wish me luck!!!
