  • Five Months and One Week - I DID IT!!!!!

This morning I weighed myself, and I am now 204 lbs, my ultimate goal. I started this diet on February 7, 2004, and on that date I weighed 264 lbs.

I simply cannot believe it. This has been scarily successful - so much that two things were said to me yesterday. First, I was at a big meeting yesterday and one of my colleagues pulled me aside and said that my weight loss had been "eerie" (I think that;'s how he put it). He then said that I'm now starting to be the "tall skinny guy" (I'm 6'3", and was really lanky as a kid).

Then my assistant came into my office late yesterday afternoon, and said that a few people around work had been asking her if I was OK, to make sure I didn't have cancer or something else which was causing me to lose weight. We both had a good laugh.

So, now I'm on to figuring out the best lifetime maintenance plan. This has been an fabulous learning exercise for me. It's taught me a number of important lessons about myself, what I can do when I put my mind to it, and what I can be doing to take better care of my body.

Thank you all for your support. I'll continue to come by and read, give advice now and then.

    I'm simply filled with superlatives!!!

That's awesome. I had someone ask me last week if I caught AIDS for that same reason. I wrote a whole deal about it, but she's a moron anyway. Good to hear sometimes backhanded compliments. And, you know they are wathcing ya, so it helps you stick to this for a maintenance plan :icondance

                              Congatulations Andrew.

I am exactly one month behind you. I started 9 March 2004 and weighed 260 lb. Today I celebrate losing 3 stones - for you Americans that means I now weigh 218 lb.

I too am 6 ft 3 in, but have set a target of 14 Stone (196 lb), but I will see how I look at 14.5 Stone - your 204 lb - I won't get there in a month.

As a matter of interest, Andrew, what waist size trousers fit you at 204lb?
I am wearing 40s comfortably now, but want to get into 38s.

Like you, the folk I work with just can't believe it, and are quite amazed when I tell them I am never hungry!

A few more pounds and I might be brave enough to post a picture of me in my 27 year old British Army Mess Kit with original trousers. I have this ambition to leave the Army the same weight I left Sandhurst (West Point for you Americans)
Atkins didn't say 'Calories don't count',
                              he said, 'Don't count calories.'

Began Atkins March 04 at 260lb, reduced to 203lb by April 07 and maintained.

Atkins makes exercise mandatory - I took up cycling - see last pics at 203lb.
