  • Dr. cut my BP meds in 1/2 today!!!

Just wanted to share some good news that really has me jazzed today!

I have been on Atkins for 2-1/2 weeks and my blood pressure went from 150/90 to 120/70. The last 2 days it has been 113-115/70 so doc. said "let's cut them in 1/2!

After that....who can doubt that Atkins is the ultimate way of eating forever!!!
(and this website is the best support system ever)

I have only lost 2 lbs. but am feeling wonderful!

Well done. Mine has gone from 176/96 in mid November to 122/80 last week. I never took meds becasue I have multi-drug allergies and did not want to do the drug road. It sure feel good to know it is dropping naturally, doesn't it. You may be able to give them up altogether soon!

Yes, I told the Doc I was on Atkins. She kind of pinched up her nose and said "ya know, we don't recommend Atkins at all, it's not good nutrition for your heart" I then said "Even though they have case upon case of triglycerides dropping as much as 50% and cholesterol getting much better and blood pressure going down? How do you account for that?" She responded that those were short term positives. There is no long term data on Atkins being good for you.

          Ok doc.....ok......WHATEVER!
Odille- good going for you too!

Well, next month is 2 years for me and I'm still kickin'. lol! I had to go to the dr today because I hurt my wrist and my blood pressure was totally normal. 120/68. I asked the nurse "Normal?" (I always forget) and she said "Yup." I think your Dr said the thing about "no long term data" because you caught her off guard. lol! Well done!!!!!!!!

                That's awesome!!

Keep going and I bet the results will impress your doctor further as time goes on!

This 'long term study' stuff is absolute BS!

What is long term to them ?

What about Low Fat long term - that terms people into angry skeletons taht loose all their hair!

Where are the studies for 'long term' use of BP medication ? How long term are those tsudies ? Did they start the study in the 70's and continue it to today ???? what the h3ck is that all about!
