My biggest motivation is that when I reach my goal weight my hubby is taking me on a cruise. We have been before but I felt like the fatest person on the ship. I love the beach and pool and always feel like people are staring at me and pointing. I want them to stare and point b/c I look so dang good now!!

I have a closet full of brand new "trendy" clothes that I want to wear. I bought them all when I quit smoking and haven't fit into them since all the weight gain came quick! Everytime I look at those clothes, I want in!!!! That's my motivator

Another motivator is to fit inside an airplane chair without feeling so snug and tight!!!!!!!!! What an icky feeling, especially on a 8 hour flight to Hawaii.

I absolutely love musical theatre. For the past 14 years, my life has centered around what show I was doing. The last show I was in (sweet Charity) I could barely perform...between being so big and full of arthritis pain coupled with a seriously bad case (6 months) of bronchitis.

Performing is the biggest passion in my life. I realize that my high carb WOL was causing me to be separated from what I love in this life.

Knowing that I am on the 2nd time around actually give me more confidence..because I know I did it once and now it is time to do it for the last time.

Health, happiness and Manolo Blahniks. (I have a shoe habit -- no more Manolos until I hit my goal. Not only is it helping me stick to the diet, I'm saving money, too!)

A long time ago, I went from 317 to 234.

                  Re: What motivated you?

                  I have numerous motivators...

                  1. I want to feel and look healthy and sexy.
                  2. I want to be able to ride the rides at the amusement parks without feeling embarrased because they had to squish me into them.
3.Buy clothes not in the plus size section.
My 4th one is very shallow and a little vindictive(it is what keeps me from cheating when I am really having a hard time resisting)...I want to be smaller than my husbands ex-wife cause it will really p-ss her off. She is heavy too, but she always refers to me as the fat b--ch.

                      1) Look better than everybody (now they're fat) that talked about how fat I was/am.
                      2) Can throw on a pair of old sweats, old t-shirt, and beat up sneakers and still look good when I go on a Saturday morning to Walmart.
                      3) NEVER EVER EVER feeling and looking that miserable again in life!!
                      4) Feeling like a success with my looks, not being just a pretty face but only if she lost weight chick anymore.
                      5) Knowing that I can help my children from ever being fat by my wol.
                      6) Overall how happy I will feel and just cry like a baby when I finally hit that weight goal. That right there will feel surreal and I want to feel that feeling because of what I did.

                              Re: What motivated you?

For me it was being 20 years old and being too embarassed to go out or to look at boys or to hang out with friends in public because of my weight. Unless you're one of those people who celebrates being a "BBW" and is okay with not fitting into airplane seats or movie seats, being fat (no many how potato chips you have) is no fun.

I wanted to ask a coworker I had a crush on out to a movie and I was too ashamed, so I decided I would try to lose the weight so that I could if I wanted to when I got there.

                                Re: What motivated you?

Like ttdriver, constant pain, especially when going up stairs and doing any sustained effort - like doing the shopping. I was totally sick of myself, depressed and really down, plus I was unemployed and no one would look at me because I was such a fat cow (albeit a very competent fat cow!). Then in May last year I had the flu, and 3 times oer the next couple of months (the cough just hung on, I think because I was so fat and unwell), after a hard coughing fit I had a bleed in my eye. It is pretty scarey going to the mirror and seeing your eye is full of blood.
My mother had high blood pressue and has always taken all these drugs to control it, and I emphatically did NOT want to go that road. I began trying to eat more healthily and go for short walks - could not walk far because of wonky ankles. I was doing the shopping one day in August and I picked up a copy of DANDR in the bargain bin. I read it through and thought I'd give it a try.
Then (drum roll) I got a wonderful job - a 12 month contract at a place I'd been voluntering. I started atkins on the Saturday and the job on the Monday. Lost 11 kg in the first 2 weeks and have never looked back. And my BP is now NORMAL without drugs (see signature).
