  • For those who may be getting discouraged....

    Hang in there.
I was stuck at 191ish forever..... Then 186ish forever....
I quit looking at the scales (except every so often to make sure I wasn't gaining). My size 12's kept getting a little looser here and there and I could wear more and more size 10's....
I ate Atkins (throughout the rungs of OWL) because I felt better. If i eat junk I feel like well junk.
Yesterday for my birthday I drug out the scales and had dropped to 175. Not that I live by my scales but it was really nice to see the number down to a new decade. And that is 85 pounds gone. And no I did not have any cake. I did have part of a vanilla malt made with low carb ice cream at Braums. Hit the spot. And there is no low carb ice cream in my freezer to finish off. I love low carb ice cream bu tif it is here I well eat all of it eventually.
I know I was so very discouraged never seeing the scales move. I tried a lot of different things to make it move including no dairy, no fruit, no grains, added supplements, took them away. The pounds disappeared when they felt like it. More exercise, less exercise, different types of exercise.... And I still do alot of activity of various types. I do weights for the upper body 3 times a week, I do yoga or callenetics or aerobics. I walk and ride bikes a lot with my son as well. But I do keep my activity level up. Exercise is not an option, at least for me.
Wish I could have gotten them to leave faster, but it just didn't work out that way. But the pounds are leaving slowly.
If you are having those same issues hang in there. It does work. It takes some of us a little longer. My goal was to at least get to this weight. I'll hang in here and eat like I do. Maybe a few more pounds will follow. Regardless, I can not express how much better I feel now than I did at 260.

Congratulations on making it to your goal weight!

Good words of advice too. I'm the same way now. Pounds are coming off much slower than they did in the beginning. It's hard sometimes to not get discouaged when the numbers are staying the same or moving really slow, but....the clothes fitting looser, people still commenting that I'm loosing more...guess the inches are coming off because of exercise.

Had a birthday on Friday. No cake for me either.

    Keep up the great work!

thankyou for the encouragement, I am at 155, my goal is to get at least to under 140 that would put me in the healthy weight range again.
I have stopped looking at the scale much cause it can be very confusiing and discouraging , yet the measureing tape always shows progress!.thankyou again.Lisa

Re: For those who may be getting discouraged....

Great post! It described almost exactly how i'm feeling right now. I feel as though I should put my scales away, because they are just a distraction and an object to upset me. Everytime I go to the bathroom (which is a lot waterwaterwater hehe) I see the scale and want to step on just to see how i'm doing that day. My water weight is so friggin bad and I never know why. My weight in numbers may stick for awhile, I have almost come to terms with that, but hopefully i'll keep going down in inches.

Thanks for letting me know i'm not alone...

Re: For those who may be getting discouraged....

Water weight is the absolute pits. I know it is my biggest struggle.
I jumped on the scales again to find myself down to 171.
Only way it dropped so quickly is water. Seems the more I loose the more weight in water my body can hold.
Anyway hoping to see hte 160's soon.

Re: For those who may be getting discouraged....

As the fat cells loose their fat they desperately try to retain their size and will hold water. The more water you drink the more it flushes them out. But for me every so often they flush out really well and I see a whoosh. In between I see my weight creep up or fluctuate here and yonder. It is to the point that I hate my scales. As long as my clothes fit or are looser I'm good with that.

Thank you so much for this post. It's just what I needed today. I've been stuck at this weight and am rapidly getting discouraged! A couple of years ago I did Atkins and got to this weight and stalled and QUIT! Gained it all back and then some, but this time thanks to encouraging folks like you, I will not quit and ride it through! Yay!
