  • 1 month weigh in

Hi all. I'm at the one month point exactly today and I've lost 10 lbs. in 30 days. I'm happy with that so far. I have a long way to go yet to get to my long term goal. I wish I was one of the people that lost 30 lbs. in 30 days, but that's ok. The weight didn't come on in two months, it's not going to come off in two months. I'm hoping in the month of May to lose 15 more lbs. THEN, at the end of May, I want to post my before and during pic showing 25 lbs. of weight loss so far. That is my 'short term goal' for May. I would like to be under or at 200 by May 31. I think that's pretty realistic. I am on extended induction.

I started my 'official starting weight' after I figured the quick post maternity weight came off at 224. If I look back to mid November when I gave birth, I was at 260. SO, since November I've lost 45 lbs. (HOWEVER, that includes a 9 lb baby and all that goes along with that).

For some reason, I feel very driven here lately. I find myself double checking the carbs in items, trying to be creative with meals so I don't get bored, really mapping out my meals, pre cutting all my snacks for a few days in advance, etc. I've done Atkins before after my other kids and it's taken a while to get the weight off. I think I feel so driven this time because of the 'you're not alone in this' factor that I get from the website. I hope I can stay as focused as I've been this last week.

I've been really tempted here lately with baking cookies, cupcakes, cakes for birthdays. I just keep repeating my mantra, "IT'S NOT WHAT I'M GIVING UP, IT'S WHAT I'M GETTING". And, thankfully, I seem to be able to step back and see the big picture of what I'm aiming for. It's funny that just by thinking a sentence when I'm tempted that it works, but it does. Or I just go glug a bottle of water.

My goal for May is to lose 15 more lbs., add 20 more minutes of exercise per day, and drink one more bottle of water per day.

    Thanks for letting me update.

congrads on the 10 pound weightloss!,
dont give up ,keep on the atkins plan and I am sure you will reach that goal weight soon. have you used a measureing tape to measure your progress, that would help, due to the fact your exersizing you might have gained some muscle (muscle weighs more then fat)and thats why the scale shows just 10 pounds lost, bless you.

Thank you. That is funny we started the same day and at one point were the same weight. How funny is that. ALSO, I'm in MD and I noticed you're in DC. Not to far off as I know most MD'ers consider DC a part of our great state. Strange that you can go to the internet and just randomly find people at the same point in their lives that aren't too far away.

I know what you mean Fit. It's always crazy to me to see people who may have the same story, stats, or similar goals.

Congratulations. I am just starting and my stats are very close to yours. It gives me goose bumps to think I could have success like you have had. Keep up the good work. You are an inspiration to me.

                Re: 1 month weigh in

Your positive attitude is what is going to fuel you to fight through impatience and keep on track. I, too, consider myself a "slow loser", but now that I've stuck with it for 15lbs (and almost 3 months), I have accepted this and am extremely motivated to keep going. Now I just don't seem to feel like I'm in such a hurry anymore. Funny, huh?

Keep up the great work and that positive outlook!

                  Re: 1 month weigh in

Well, if it makes you feel better, I went from 250-ish, to 199 from the beginning of March, to the beginning of May. That also includes a 2 week stall. So you're goals are definitely reasonable, and possible. Just make sure to drink plenty of water, and if you gain anything, it's most likely muscle weight, or it's water, which comes right back off.

                  And don't forget to measure.
