  • Buying T-Shirts

    Here's my latest story:

I've always liked to wear my shorts a little on the large size. It's not even a fashion thing, I'm just 6'5", so the bigger the waist, the shorts were a little longer. So I've obviously been losing a lot of weight, so my shorts that were big to begin with were now almost unwearable. (Translation: I still liked them, my girlfriend made me get new ones.. of course)

So I finally decide to go to the store, so I drive to Old Navy to pick up some for cheap. On the way back to the shorts section, I notice a rack of shirts for only .97 cents. For that cheap, I would wear a shirt no matter what it looked like. For serious, it doesn't even matter. So I found 3 shirts, but they weren't my usual size. For the past 7 years, I have always worn a XXL, and all they had were XL shirts. Again, for .97 cents, it's worth trying it on.

So I go to the changing room to give it a go, expecting the shirt to be tighter than hotpants. And I try it on, and it fits perfectly.

Amazingly, I'm only a size XL now. It's not much, but I know I was happy for the rest of that day. I keep picturing that in my mind every time I look at something with carbs.

Seems like you and I have pretty much the same build and weight goals, so trust me when I say that getting into an XL is a big accomplishment. I've lost over 60 pounds and only went from an xxl to xl (I am 6'5 as well). It's all in how your body type is. I will always be a big guy, even if I weight 225 like I eventually want to. I just have a big frame, so I pretty much always plan on wearing an XL. Either way, seems like you're well on your way to being 225. Keep it up!!

          Re: Buying T-Shirts

I know how awesome that is because Old Navy tends to run small in a lot of their stuff ...
my sons are both up there with you in the tall zone and I can rarely find them anything to fit ... .97 tshirts that is a Helll of a score no matter what!!!!

that is so wonderful ...good for you!!!!!!

Destructor--that's a major accomplishment! I agree with Heidi, Old Navy DOES run small (don't even get me started on trying on their jeans...GRRRRRRR) and so it's an even better accomplishment!

            Congrats!

I love hearing things like this. You, Doug and I all seem to have similiar body types and goals so it's really great to hear this, and to see both of your SW/CWs, and know that others like me have done so well. Thank you destructor

                  Re: Buying T-Shirts

Great job, I know that i went to get new pants and i made sure they fit a tiny tight so that i could where them for awhile. It's been 2 weeks and already they ar getting to big. It feels great don't it. It's like the numbers on the scale go down but you don't really see it on yourself until something like 97 cent tshirts points it out to you. Good Luck on your journey.

It's the little things that really keep you going, right? I can't wait to be able to cross my legs comfortably. That will be great.

Mrs Tessa - That is so funny you said that because that is my biggest thing. I can't wait to cross my legs and not have to use my muscle to keep my leg there. HAHA That and clothes shopping.
