  • 2+ years...

Well, it's been a few years since I stumbled into the Atkins w.o.l. and it's been a fun ride and quite an education. I'm fairly well done these days...still trying to get off the last few stubborn pounds but in a mellow relaxed way rather than the overstressed desperation we all start out experiencing at the beginning of the "journey"

I work on a 40-20-40 fat/carbs/protein ratio now and I'm both flexible and rigid in my dietary choices. To clarify, that would mean that I've expanded my variety but I still maintain control and glycemic balance and awareness within the range. I've tweaked a lot of recipes and still avoid sugar and *white* in general, but there IS light at the end of all of our tunnels folks...you just have to stay the course and find your own individual way of doing this w.o.l. that allows you to be a long term player!

People don't believe I'm in my 50's anymore and I feel good all the time now. Food and clothing shopping are enjoyable things these days. It's so easy to wear clothes when you feel "right" about yourself when you look in the mirror. Just revisited an old bowling league of mine and they were shocked and amazed...hopefully a few more converts will come of that trip!

Took 3rd at the last big racquetball tournament I competed in and I can compete successfully against athletes 20+ years younger than I these days...feels great! I work out consistently and am religous about training but it isn't a chore so much as a conviction and expression of self respect and discipline.

Soldier on. I know I will. That's why we call it a way of life....wish more people would realize it isn't the big bad boogie man it has been portayed to be at times.

Breaks my heart when I see obese parents and their equally obese children flailing away eating all the wrong choices and perpetuating the cycle of despair.

I'm always willing to talk about it, but I don't preach unless asked...still, it's hard at times not to scream at them to WAKE UP!!!!!

See you around the boards since I don't intend to go away completely...ever. You can't get rid of me that easily...lol.
