  • Ahhhh!!! I'm so happy!!!

Well here's a little background first

I never had a problem with my weight until I became preggers... I was always a size 6-8. Once I became pregnant, I gained so much weight! I was huge, and had a decent size baby, 8lbs 3 oz.

After I had him, I was breastfeeding and the weight was coming off pretty quick. I went down to a size 11. I wasn't happy with that, but It wasn't too bad either. I stayed at that weight until my son was diagnosed with autism. I was so stressed out, and depressed, that I just ate and ate. Before I knew it, I was a size 16-18, and too depressed to care.

Well my son is making amazing progress, and I finally realized that I shouldn't be depressed at all. I have to be healthy and fit to keep up with my little guy (he's 4 now). My mom has been on Atkins for over a year now. She lost 70 pounds, and has kept all of it off (in fact she's still losing, she's a size 8 now). At first I said the usual, " I can't give up my pasta and bread!"

Then one night it hit me. How foolish was I being! I have my son on a gluten/casein free diet. (he can't have any wheat or milk products) and that has made a HUGE change in his autistic behaviors. If my son can do it, I can do it.

So I did it. I was a big carb junkie before. In fact there were many times where I just ate half a bag of potato chips in place of a meal. Well, I've been on the diet since June 23rd and went from 170lbs to 156lbs.

It's so much easier than I thought it would be!

Anyway, I was getting dressed this morning, and saw a pair of black pants that I had worn to my grandmother's funeral just a few months ago. When I wore them, they were so tight, I was positive they were going to split. Thnakfully they didn't, but when I got home,I washed them, and hung them in the back of my closet. They're a size 14.

Well today I saw them, and wondered if they would fit me, so I tried them on.. THEY'RE LOOSE!!!!

OMG, I'm so happy!!! I have to search all my clothes to see if I have a size 12 floating around to try on.

Well, that's my story, I just had to tell someone! LOL, Thanks for the support everyone!!

    BIG HUGS TO ALL!!

        Hi

I know that you posted this quite a while ago. I recently found this site, so this is my first chance to reply. I think it is so fabulous that your son was an inspiration to you. I have worked with many different children with disabilities and find them AND their families inspiring. Your story just reaffirms my belief that these special children are only given to very special people. Good luck to you and your son.
