Yesterday (13th Dec) was my "processing" day for the Reserves (military service).
It involved:
Aptitude Tests (language, spacial and problem solving)
Fitness
Medical
Interview
I was sure I had absolutely bombed on the spacial tests - you are shown a figure and have to determine which one it would be when flattened out into a fold-up pattern (or vice versa).
The fitness test involves push ups, sit ups, hand grip (you squeeze this apparatus to register a certain strength/weight), and a step test (you go up and down steps to a certain cadance, which gets faster if your pulse has not gone over the roof)
During the interview, I was told that I had done sufficiently well on the tests that I would qualify for anything I wished - including officer training. I was so surprised I didn't know what to say.
I got through all the fitness requirements with no problems, either.
I am so glad that I have found this way of life - I don't carry as much weight, and I'm much more fit than I was previously.
I even returned home and did my usual brisk walk/run with the dogs (2.4 km)
