  • HELP: If You've Reached Goal and did Not Lose On Induction, Please Post

    Okay. What gives?

Almost five weeks and no loss on the scale. Inches, yes, but nothing on the scale, and I just don't see how that's possible.

I'm getting ready to head for Weight Watchers. Seriously.

If you've had success with this WOE (reached your goal) but had a crazy no-start start, please give some encouragement.

    Started again: 10 November 2007!

    No stats for two weeks.

If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always gotten...

To start, post your menu.. maybe you've been slipping in some carbs and you don't know it.. If you've gone that long without loosing any significant weight, you may have a thyroid problem or another problem. Have you seen your doctor before you started?

Also, at your weight, you may retain a good amount of water, also consider menstruation, etc.

Something inside me wants to say that under normal circumstance, doing a clean induction, you should shed at least 15 pounds given you are at around 240.

If you're losing inches you're losing weight. The scales will catch up sooner or later. I'd hang in there, if I were you.

maybe try posting a menu, perhaps there is something that you might not realize is causing an issue that someone else might see.

I'd rather be physically smaller, even if the scale didn't budge. After all, people don't know how much you weigh, unless you tell them.

            Hi All --

Thanks for the great posts. I actually have a mentor on the board, who figured out with me that I was eating too many "legal" carbs. For instance, I was eating/drinking a lot of cream, but I wasn't counting the carbs. Same with cheeses.

Today I decided to try Weight Watchers to see if it would budge my weight, but when I went out to dinner and was about to eat the bread, I stopped myself and re-committed -- at east for another month, to see what would happen.

            And so we'll see...

              Hey RIMedusa!!
Congratulations on re-committing!! Give it another month. Even if you haven't lost weight...how do you FEEL on this WOE. Do you have more energy? Better moods? Are you exercising? You could be building muscle and losing fat at the same time which wouldn't show on a scale.
Also...does the RI in RIMedusa stand for Rhode Island. You might be close to me...maybe we can buddy up and keep each other on track!

Hello... I think I might now what the problem is! There is two choices. 1st one is, is that I only lost inches for the first 2 weeks then I dropped all the weight at once like where the heck did it go, I didn't think I was losing eitheir! Then there is number two! My aunt Bonnie baught the Atkins book and everything and followed the diet religiously for 2 months and did not lose a pound. Then she went on a low fat diet and lost 55lbs... Sometimes the Low carb diet isn't for everyone, try the low fat diet if this diet doesn't continue helping! I hope I helped!
                Just getting started!

                My before pictures!

My starting weight is 160lbs. And I am 5 foot even! My weight goal is 125lbs.

here is another thought on why you can be dropping inches but not pounds. When the body uses fat for fuel it will temporarily fill those empty fat cells with water.SO when you see the same number on the scales its water not fat . once your body adjusts to the changes it will release certain hormones that make the water filled fat cells shed the water and BINGO the WHOOSHIE fairy comes to visit!( and you will see a sudden loss on the scales) so hang in there - it will happen. i lost a little in induction but then nothing for a few weeks -- then lost a few more kilos - then nothing again etc etc. THis has been the pattern for me -- it certainly has taught me patience! In the meantime I am enjoying eating such yummy food and feel fantastic and that has kept me on plan and focused on my goal. It has become so that i no longer feel i am dieting ,but that my new way of eating is normal for me now

I was fustrated to , i lost inches but nothing on the scale, if i don't lose a pound a week (at least) i freak. But at the same time my extra tight size 11 fit me loose now, and in like one week i lost 6 lbs.

I think you should give it more time. Not all the people lose the same amount of weight or inches. Some people complaint for losing in the first weeks and then stopped osing .. and all of a sudden whoosh!! they catch up.. don't get discouraged. Stick to the tape measure and hide the scale for at least two weeks.. and see what happens.. watch your sweeteners cheese and cream allowance, plenty of water and you're all set to be a big succes .. keep us posted please

I have tried Weight Watchers...I did not lose weight or inches (I did not gain weight, but I stayed the same for three months even with exercising).

I just don't think that you can have anything you want as long as you count the points.

If you are losing inches, you are losing fat. We have become such as society that depends on the scale which is not always an indicator of health. Blood tests, total girth (especially around the midsection), and energy level are much better indicators than the bathroom scale.

Keep it up and don't lose the faith
