  • my story of success... and revamping my motivation!

    hi all atkins followers! ;-)

i started atkins back in april of 2002... i lost 60 pounds! i am 5'6 and at that time i weighed 240 pounds... i was single at the time with three kids so i was motivated to get skinny and feel good. so i got down to 183 the first time around and then love hit me in november of 2003... over the course of a year (nov. 03 to now) i gained 40 pounds! i totally fell for who is now my hubby...
i got too comfy with him... we loved to eat together! so i decided on jan. 1 to get back with it... i was 223.5... today (01/04/05) i am 218.8... so of course i have lost.
my thing is... i need to stick with it and stay motivated... my hubby is so worth it! ;-) i don't wanna be fat and tired all the time! i also have my sister's wedding in july that i have to be skinny for!
any advice to stay motivated... or ideas to keep these lips away from donuts?

Hi and welcome to the board :wave

You have obviously experienced success on the Atkins WOE before, so you know that it can work for you. The best pieces of advice I can give you are -

    1) Buy and read the book, 2002 editon on DANDR (Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution).
    2) Do a squeaky clean induction. This makes the woe dead easy.
    3) Drink lots of water.
    4) Be a very active poster on the ADBB this place his a great help and can be extremely motivational.

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

Your nasal passages can give you as much as, if not more pleasure than what you taste.

So, in short, take the time to smell a donut.

The smell alone will give you a feeling of satisfaction without the added carbs from ingesting it! And you can keep a donut around for a day and keep sniffing it! If you ate it, where would the pleasure be then?

When we have a cold food doesn't taste as good due to loss of sense of smell. Smell invokes memories, it brings pleasure, and it has saved me many a time on Atkins!

So go ahead! Sniff it, girl! Just don't eat it.
