  • Diabetic success

This is my first week of induction but I can't believe how great my blood sugar is doing! I used to have BS of 250+ and now within only one week it has dropped to 133!!!! The lowest its ever been! I don't need to take as much insulin as before and I feel a lot more energetic.

I'm so surprised as how fast this is working in terms of my health and can't wait to see the results of the 6WEC!! I'm so enthused about this, I can't get enough of ha Hee hee!!

    Thanks for all your help.

My blood sugar was nornal in 2 weeks. I encourage all diabetics to try this WOE even if they don't need to loose weight

    Keep up the great work!!!

Wow! That is fantastic. You both are doing so great with your blood sugar.

That is very encouraging. I wish more diabetics would just try this WOE and see for themselves.

        Re: Diabetic success

I'm so glad this WOE is improving your life! I've been arguing with my mother and aunt for weeks about the good influence Atkins has on diabetics! My aunt is severely overweight and diabetic, and she's eating sensibly but it's not making her diabetes any better.
I was borderline diabetic when I started this. I didnt really realise how bad I was until last week though. Until I started on Atkins I had to control my BSL with my menu. But I'd often get dizzy spells or faint, or start shaking violently.

And all of that has gone since Atkins! I dont get my headaches, I dont feel dizzy, I have energy...I feel a millions times better!

            Re: Diabetic success

            Momma, that's great!

I've heard of other Low Carb programs not working as effectively as Atkins for lowering blood sugar.

It makes total sense that it occurs (success on Atkins that is).

It absolutely amazes me that Diabetes educators tell their clients to watch the 'fat' intake (because fat makes people fat and that's a problem for diabtetics!)

            Crazy stuff!!!

It seems like pure logic that Atkins would be effective for diabetics. Am I missing something here ?

Anyways, again, congrats on your improved health!

Hi my nick- name is Malka, I have been doing Induction since January,05,2006, not even one week yet..My Blood Sugar has improved wonderfully, I am now in a normal target range..This has happened since starting Atkin's, I can hardly believe this..What a wondeful surprise, seeing is believing..My Doctor told me to get back on Low Carbs, when he told me on December,14,2005 that I was a Type 2 Diabetic, now if I could just convince the Canadian Diabetes Society, that my food plan is better than the one they dish-up, all would be well.. Re: Diabetic success

We see this on ADBB time after time after time. Most Type II diabetics find that, after a few weeks to a few months on Atkins, that they can throw away their diabetes medications, and the Type I often say that their blood sugar has never been more stable and that they're saving a fortune with the reduction in the amount of insulin used.

Yet, both the American Diabetes Association and the American Medical Association recommend a diet of 60% carbs for diabetics!

Is this a crazy world, or what?

Wanted to add my congrats also to you. I think that you are discovering that this WOE is a good option for diabetics and it really stabilizes the BS. I wish that I could get my diabetic mother to see the light but I will keep trying to pull her in this direction. Wishing you continued success!!
