  • partly disappointed:(

    Hi
i just completed my two weeks induction,
    i was 70.7 Kg and now I am 68.8 -

im not sure if I had a good progress after two weeks of excercise and diet - I went down to 68.5 couple of days ago but it came back to 68.8 - shall i worry or this could be normal?

    thanks

    Re: partly disappointed

The loose guide is that you should aim to lose 10-15% of your desired weight loss in the induction stage (someone correct me if I'm wrong, it's been 3 years and I need to re-read the book!)

If thats the case, then yes, you're right on track! I work in lbs, so you were 155 lbs, you are now 151 lbs, so you've lost 4 lbs, which is great because you dont have much to lose at all. 4 lbs would be within the 10-15% mark!

Also, don't weigh yourself every day. Stick to one day a week. The reason for that is mainly because your weight can fluctuate greatly, even throughout one day! Choose one day to weigh in on, and weigh in at the same time each week. For me, it's Monday morning (after a trip to the bathroom!)

Can anyone confirm if this is true? it would definitely give me something to aim for

I think you are doing great with your loss, every little counts towards the end result. I mean compared to me you dont have as much to lose so i think you would find low weight losses but they all add up. well done and keep up the good work!

          Hi there

thanks alot for the replies, it is amazing how other people words has an affect on you, even your closest freinds cn't get it, and even though i dont know you all, but makes a big difference - as we all share the same thing -

i fully agree now and i decided not to weigh myself everyday, now i do every couple of days, so as i said originally i was 70.7Kg and now im down to 68.0, as i said not a great progress but as long as it goes down -

but now i truely belive that it wont work without excerise, most part of the cellulites on my legs are disappeared by the running and weigh lifting -
Cravings are almost out fo question

this monday i will complete my third week of induction - actually the 3rd weeks it was semi-induction (but i didnt have cravings just wanted to eat some different things as well to help the digestion(
good luck to all of you

            Re: partly disappointed

I think your last post says a lot. First, you are exercising. This is good for you, but the replacement of fat with muscle will cause it to seem as though you haven't lost a lot. Second, you said that you are doing semi-induction. Any change from induction will result in less weight lost. Depending on how much you have to lose this could be a good thing.

Maybe, instead of weighing, you should get a tape measure and measure yourself once a week. That way you can see the difference in inches and not rely so heavily on the pounds lost.

Don't feel bad...it happens. I went a whole week of doing nothing but fluctuating back and forth between 2 pounds. I couldn't understand because I had not been cheating or anything. Then suddenly one day it started coming off again. I think it's just the body's way of adjusting.

Dr Atkins said that we should lose 10% of our desired weight loss during induction, 5 pound for ever 50, and then 1 to 2 pounds a week after that.

this is really encouraging as i feel as though i should have lost more, but i've lost 10lbs and i'm nearly at the end of my second week, but its fluctuated a lot!

need to keep off the scales!

                  thanks!

As said in the previous posts, you should aim to lose 10% of your weight loss in the first 2 weeks of induction. If you have 100 lbs to lose, then you may well lose 10lbs! But if you have 20lbs to lose, you won't lose 10lbs in such a short period of time.
Seeing as you don't have much weight to lose maybe 30lbs/14kg at the most, you should be aiming to have lost 3lbs or 1.4kg, which you very nearly did! So that's great.
Also, if you've been exercising, you have probably gained muscle, which weighs more than the fat you've lost.

Well done! You've made a great start!

In induction, you need to follow the DANDR book by the letter for the optimum results - in the further stages (once you've finished Induction) you can eat more carbs, but in induction you really need to stay at 20g and do induction properly or you'll be complaining that you're not losing weight!
