    Re: 151 lbs lost

    Hi Sarina...nice to meet you!

Losing 151lbs in less than a year is nothing short of phenomenal! How truly impressive and what a motivation to others just starting their journey.

Keep up the great work. We all look forward to pictures, we love our pictures.

Wow, you have a lot of food allergies, that kinda sucks...but you seem to have everything on track and it is what it is...right.

Again, you are truly an inspiration!

Dana... looks like it was 100 lbs lost from her highest weight (back in 2007) as of that date. Not 100 pounds since starting Atkins.

Still -- great job!! You're a walking testimony against gastric bypass!

Please get back to me ....

          thanks

          Hey Dana,

It's great to meet you, thank you for stopping by to share my update with me and thank you for the compliment! It has been quite a journey for me and I am starting to realize the transformation that has taken place...it still hasn't sunk in. I went to the movie theatre for the first time last Tuesday night (haven't been for ages) and I was absolutely SHOCKED how I fit in the seat....I had plenty of room on both sides of the seat to wiggle around in and felt like I was swimming in the chair...I can't tell you what it felt like in that moment of time for me.... what an odd feeling...but a GREAT one I can tell you that!!!

Since I started Atkins on July 19/08 (this past summer) I have (as of this morning's weigh in) lost 101 lbs. on Atkins alone. On the 19th of this month I will have been on Atkins 6 months in total. The other 53 lbs that I have lost and have kept off was prior to starting Atkins on July 19/08 (but still within the one year period of time). So in less then a year I have lost a total of 154 lbs.

This way of eating really does work. My brother (who absolutely refused to eat this way) gave in and started Oct 9/08 eating this way after seeing how the way the weight came off of me and has stayed off....as of this week, he's lost a total of 65 lbs. so far, I'm so incredibly proud of him!! He isn't online otherwise he would be on this forum....but since he's not, I wanted to mention his success as well....he is doing awesome.

Hang in there Dana, and stick to this way of eating....it truly works. It takes a lot of work and patience to lose what we have gained through the years but truly, if you knew my medical history and numerous food allergies (I'm VERY restricted with the foods I can eat)...if I can lose weight eating this way...anyone can!!!

So, I hope this explanation is helpful.

Btw....I noticed your Italian...I'm Sicilian...well partly, my father and his family are from Sicily.

Stay in touch, this forum is amazing....I have found great strength and encouragement from this board.....it have been an incredible blessing to me. Come here often, read as many posts as you can and post as often as you like!

Looking forward to hearing about your progress....we're all in this together!!!

Btw....I am going to try to have a new picture taken of me tomorrow (Sun) and then try to figure out how to post all my pics here starting at 400 lbs. until now. I have not done so up until now but I think I am feeling more comfortable about showing them to others.

          All the best to you!!!

Hi Strudel, it's great to meet you too!!!! I have read so many of your posts and have found them very helpful and inspirational, I am glad we have finally been able to meet....thank you for your posts and for the encouragement and support today that you have given to me, you're too kind!!!

It indeed has been quite a journey! One that I never imagined would happen the was it did and it has truly saved my life.

Indeed I will be posting pictures (try to at least...I don't know how and will have to try to figure it out...I'm hopeless when it comes to this sort of a thing!) as soon as I figure out how to do so. The pictures on this board have really helped me and if I can help someone in their journey I am very happy to share the transformation I have made.

Yes, I have a tremendous amount of food allergies that incredibly limits what I can eat...but hey, there's still foods that I can eat and I look at them simply as fuel....I now eat to live and not live to eat.

Thank you again for your kind words and encouragement, I can't begin to tell you how much that means to me

I look forward to talking with you again....thank you for stopping by!

                Hi Adena!!!!

Thanks for popping in, it's great to meet you!!!

Actually I have lost 101 lbs (as of this morning my weight is now 246 lbs.) since I started Atkins on July 19-08 (this past summer...my start weight was 347lbs when I began Atkins). I posted the time frame below to Dana earlier:

"I started Atkins on July 19/08 (this past summer) I have (as of this morning's weigh in) lost 101 lbs. on Atkins alone. My body has reacted incredibly well to this way of eating and I have really stuck to eating the way I am allowed and incorporating exercise along with it. I think that is why I have achieved the success I have.....eating properly and exercising go hand in hand. I'm very dedicated and disciplined these two important points....plus I drink a lot of water each day.

I at one point tossed around the idea about a gastric bypass but it was VERY short lived. I really knew that I could lose this weight on my own....I just hadn't found the right way to do it. I'm glad I didn't seriously consider the procedure.

Thank you again for stopping by and being so supportive, I appreciate it more then I will ever be able to express.

Thank you Maggie! I can tell you for sure, do everything you're suppose to do with eating this way and incorporate exercise and before you know it you'll be feeling and seeing the difference....not to mention being well on your way to reaching "Onederland". I have no doubt you can do it....I'm right here with you along the way...we're in this together!!!

                        Re: 151 lbs lost

Thank you Dana, you're most kind!

I'm glad my explanation helped out, I wanted to clear the time frame up.

I will for sure pass along your congrats to my brother, thank you so much!!! He's doing great and I know he'll really appreciate your comments regarding how he's doing....thank you for being so considerate and mentioning him.

You know, maybe it's the foods you're eating?? I wonder if it's a water retention thing you're going through. Are you eating foods higher in sodium? Are you getting enough fat? Are you drinking enough water....just a few things to think about.

I know for me...sodium for me is an absolute KILLER...I retain a great deal of water if I have just a little bit so it's something I have been very mindful of.

How long have you been on Atkins recently? Any cheats? Has your Induction been a clean one? Just getting an idea of where you're at....sorry for all the questions, I'm just firing them out there because I care and want to try to help where I might be able to.

Have you taken your measurements at all? I highly recommend that you do...measurements speak VOLUMES compared to scales....I have seen a lot of people go through what you are right now (on this board) and then all of a sudden the scales start to drop....that's why it's much more encouraging to take measurements because you'll really see the inches fall off faster then you'll see the scales move....if you haven't done measurements yet, bust out the tape measure and go for it!!! I think that will help you.

Another thing that as been instrumental in my success is my physical activity. I exercise six times a week, twice a day....before I go to work I work out and after I get home and have had something to eat. Eating right and exercising go hand in hand. Now, I'm not suggesting that you go to the extreme I have right away but start adding some form of physical activity into your daily routine and I promise you, you won't regret it! And then gradually work up. Start walking, take your gorgeous family out for a stroll and make it a family thing where everyone can enjoy it together and spend it with one another....it doesn't quite feel like exercise then

And lastly...drink LOTS of water!!!! Makes a big difference.

Listen, PM me anytime and we'll work on this together if you would like. I'm right here along side of you and we can problem solve this thing out. Maybe you're being a little impatient and actually losing more inches then you realize??

Don't give up...lets work it through and try something new okay? I know some people say the more times they go on and off from this way of eating it can get a little more difficult each time...HOWEVER...that doesn't mean the individual can't achieve success...it just might take a little more effort and patience before things start to happen...I'm not saying that is happening in your case, however if you've been on and off of it six times...maybe this time it will just take a little more work and patience... but you'll do it!!!

Remember we're all in this together and we'll get to our goals together!

If you're up to it, pm me what you've been eating for last last 3 days...lets take a peek and see what it looks like.

                        Talk with you soon,
