  • 2nd Try Progress Report

    If this isn't the right place for progress reports then please let me know so I can move it.

    Well now, after significant difficultly and false starts I finally managed to get with the program on Aug 12th. I was surprised by how hard it was to get going this time considering I have done this before....but after a couple days I found my groove and then it was like an old glove.

    I had a fairly clean induction with only one error....I went to a combination birthday/funeral/celebration of life for a friend of mine who recently departed. His family is from the South so they had a big southern BBQ. There was basically nothing there I could eat so I cheated with a couple of ribs (literally two pieces not racks) and a piece of cornbread (The BEST IN THE WORLD) and a glass of milk. Figured it was better than the beer. All things considered I am OK with this cheat as not eating anything would be insulting at this very family event, and to be honest I NEVER get real Southern BBQ...it simply isn't available around here. So although the timing is bad it is a once in a lifetime event.

    Even still I managed to loose 11 pounds on my two week induction. Not bad, though I expected more actually. I was figuring on 15+ pounds for water weight. We'll see how I do on Weds when I weigh again.

    I'll report back.

        Well then, I weighed in this morning at 410.5....so I guess will call that 411. 19 pounds down at this point.

        I gotta find a camera to take some before pics with before I loose all the weight.

          Well I realized I forgot to post last week. I am down to 407.5 So I'll call it 408. Not bad. Definately slowed down here in the forth week. I have gone over my eating and I don't believe I was stepping off the path at any point so I will hope for water weight and see what the scale holds for me at the next weigh in.....which is tomorrow.

            Another Weds, another weigh in. A bit better this week at a little under 404. Thats four pounds this week.

                  Another Weds another weigh in. Lost another four pounds this week and that puts me firmly at a flat 400.
                  Wow, that is such a friggin huge number. For some reason it never really hit me before until now. I still have 200lbs to lose.
                  Best to keep focused I suppose. And find a belt.
                  Maybe some pics too.

                      Gosh you're turning the corner to the 300s, that must feel fantastic! Keep it up buddy, you're helping to keep me going too. It's really hard and frustrating sometimes. You're living proof we're all on the RIGHT ROAD.

                        Reporting in.
                        I missed last week.....was on the road a lot which never helps me. Completely forgot to weigh in too.
                        Today I am 398, which means down two pounds from two weeks ago. Hopefully I will be able to get some good exercise in over the next week and see if I can get the numbers moving a little faster again.

                        Following that I have some serious work related issues coming up, as well as a visit from the maybe soon to be ex-wife.
                        Stress levels couldn't be much higher these days, and unfortunately I am a stress eater. I going to try and surround myself with approved snack items and try to keep my focus.

                        If anyone wants to give advice on avoiding stress eating I would love to hear it.

                          Hey all.
                          Haven't checked in for the last couple weeks. I had to prepare for a brief absence at work, do to pending hand surgery......as well as a visit from the soon to be ex-wife.
                          Work threw the usual curveballs at me, the surgery went well, and the wife maintained the tradition of not being supportive in any way.

                          Wow, well I managed to get through the last little while without losing my sanity, which at points seemed like a serious concern. I did have a few slip ups, and was expecting to pay the price today when I stepped on the scale. Worse though, my phyiscal activity dropped off to near nothing as I basically sat on my butt for the week following surgery.
                          Weight today: 395
                          I am very pleased to have still lost weight over the last three weeks considering my "slips" and the decreased physical activity. Not a huge amount, but I'll gladly take the three pound drop when I was expecting a multi pound gain.

                              It is so inspiring watching you though this journey. Congratulations on your progress so far.

                              Just remember, life is gonna throw it's fair share of curveballs, don't get discouraged. No one is perfect and slip ups are allowed. The fact that you get back on the path is what will make you successful.

                              The journey takes as long as it takes. I can't wait to hear future updates.
