  • First Two Weeks...

First two weeks down - and 7.2 pounds are gone!

I am so excited, this is the year that I'm going to LOVE how I look and feel... I know it!

It really helps following along with The Biggest Loser on tv... I weigh in on Tuesdays, and watch the show that night. It keeps me extra motivated!

    Congratulations!

Will you now add 5 net carbs of vegetables to your Induction menu?

          Re: First Two Weeks...

I love the biggest loser! but you know bob and gillian would sooooo not approve of our choice. But I went to see my personal trainer today (once a week, im not a rich person or anything) and I told him I was Day 3 of induction and I got a little spiel about why not just eat calorie conscious and exercise, fat is unhealthy, blah blah blah and I stuck by "Hey, I know this works for me because I did it before. I've tried your way for a year now and have lost 10 pounds and I really want to accelerate the pace of weight loss to stay motivated and get to my goal by my 30th birthday in August." By the end of our session he said "Ok, stick with it, if it works for you that's good." Lesson is-be specific and firm about it with naysayers (in a calm, friendly way) and they might give up their stance, at least in relation to you.

          (Sorry for the tangent!)

Don't worry it's for me, not you.

Next time tell the naysayers you are eating health conscious. What's wrong with choosing whole foods over processed foods? What's wrong with eating (and sometimes exceeding) the daily recommended servings of vegetables? What's wrong with choosing to eat no refined sugars/carbohydrates, and choosing to get your carbs from healthy foods that are good for the body?

It's funny to watch them come up with answers to those questions.

just wave and smile to the naysayers.

AreYouGonnaEatThat, I love your answer to the naysayers. I too had a lot of naysayers last year when I first tried Atkins, I think that is partly why I stopped. Now that I'm back for good because this is what works for me and what makes me happy, I'm just telling a few select people that I know will be supportive. I guess I just don't want to deal with the negativity again. What's funny is that people at work aren't really noticing the added fat and protein in my diet, they just notice I'm eating home cooked meals with plenty of vegetables.

SarahBeth, I too am turning 30 in August! And staring down the big 3-0 is definitely a big part of my motivation. I don't know that I will make my ultimate goal by August, but I hope to be well on my way.

I WILL learn to feel comfortable in my own body again!

You know, outside of my immediate family, I do not say that I am following the Atkins plan, I just say that I am controlling my carbs and avoiding sugars and processed foods! No one has criticised me or offered the benefit of their opinion, unlike last time when I was more upfront about being "on Atkins". To be honest it saves having to explain why it works and why their pre-concieved ideas are often wrong!
