  • Diurex?

I haven't lost any weight in over a month (just keep gaining weight) and I'm usually really good about what I eat. What I am doing just doesn't seem to cut it and I'm getting tired of this!!

Do you think I am retaining extra water? and would Diurex be ok to take?

have you posted menus for review before? that would help us see if there are any areas that could be stopping your weight loss.

actually it would be a good idea. However, the Diurex box was empty and I'd have to buy more (me poor) ...

My mom also advised against it. I guess I could just drink more water. BLAH.

ya I wouldn't advise taking the diurex...post a menu or two and let us know how much excercise you are doing and we can see if we can help.

Hmm ok well I'll post yesterday's menu then. I also posted this in the wrong forum though. I'm not technically on induction anymore. I do eat some nuts once in a while... but try not to.

            Breakfast:
            4 slices of bacon
            2 eggs scrambled

            Lunch:
Beef hot dog fried (2 net carbs)
            1 tsp mustard
            2 cups mixed salad greens
            1 tbsp ranch dressing
about .5 cup sliced cucumber with peel
            2 medium mushrooms, raw

            Random Snacks:
            2 tbsp mixed nuts, salted
2 slices roast turkey, white meat
            1 whole medium sized tomato
1 tbsp natural peanut butter (2 net carbs)

            Dinner:
2 small fillets of salmon, fried in olive oil
about 1 cup pieces of boiled broccoli
            1 slice of cheddar cheese

geez.. seems like an aweful lot of food. But I like food and I need to eat a lot to feel content. I don't feel full after eating all this.

I guess it might be the nuts? I mean, I didn't think eating a couple nuts would hurt. It's not like I'm eating handfuls at a time....

well the problem is that you need to be doing induction if you are here because the advice we give here applies if you are doing induction or extended induction...there is no sort of doing...otherwise you are just doing low carb...if you add in nuts then you should really move to OWL and you need to follow a different set of rules...the nuts get added in on the appropriate rung...

nuts and the peanuts could definitely stall your weight loss...the tomato is a higher sugar veggie...I would cut down the amount you eat of that...you are also going over the three cups veggies because as you said you are not really following the 20 carb rule...if you want to start losing again try sticking to eating whats on the acceptable foods list and keeping your carbs under 20...if you don't want to do induction then consider moving to OWL but read the rules carefully and move up the rungs at the proper time.

              hope this helps.

Hmm.. alright. I was afraid of this...

I think I'll go back to plain old induction. No nuts

I think I'll find a box and stick all my special low-carb things into it so I can't cheat on those. I have a couple low carb candy bars too :'( All must be put away. I'm not doing this diet for nothing... might as well do something about it...

enchantedraisin, I see that you have 12 more pounds to lose to get to your goal. Those last 10 pounds will come off much slower.

Have you been eating OWL. You should probably start climbing the OWL ladder.

eat from the list of acceptable foods and leave the frankenfoods out of your menu. They could be slowing you down.

If you think you are retaining fluid, drink more water and cut the salt intake down this should help.

I agree with Becky Sue - after your 14-day induction (or if you have been on induction for longer already) you should move straight on to OWL.

Take a look at the OWL forum stickies and it will help you get your head round the way to do it 'by the book'.

OWL is the main weightloss and retraining phase of Atkins, where we discover how many carbs we can eat and still lose weight as well as find out which foods we can eat without bad effects. It helps us know how our bodies react to different food items and gets our bodies used to the kinds of foods we will be eating when we reach goal.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

you have the wrong idea about feeling full on Atkins. We don't eat to fill our bellies we eat to satisfy our hunger at the time we are eating and stop no matter how much food is left on the plate, how much room we got in our bellies, nor how many carbs left in our budget.

Feed your hunger and only your hunger (unless you are at the 6 hr time limit and even then you just as Dr Atkins said eat a little) and you will lose weight on Atkins following all the rules.
